Whose next to get bought you think in 2022? I was wondering how Slate Digital, Acustica etc have been able to be on their own but Izotope, Native Instruments, Brainworx got bought.

Post

Hmmm, as long as they are not a stock coorperation it´s at the very end just the decision of the owners...
If they do not want to sell every potential buyer can go home...

I guess with NI, iZotope and Brainworx it was just the greed of the owners... while at the very end that´s why they do business :-)

If you want to make piles of cash you don’t go into audio software. Only an ignoramus would do that.

Post

Yes. Whenever I read "greed", I just think that we couldn't possibly be talking about the audio software industry.

Soundwide needs a DAW to round out the software needed for a music making ecosystem.

Traktion Waveform has its root in the person who also created JUCE.. and HE is part of the Soundwide group. So ????

Slate has made so much money both from their subscription and their highly successful VMS/VSX line, it wouldn't surprise me if they went shopping. They lack quality products in the virtual instrument and audio restoration (like RX or ERA) departments, so they might be looking at companies like Acon, Sonnox or Klevgrand for the second department. For virtual instruments, it's hard to guess as this field is so crowded. Nexus maybe?!

One level higher: Apple buys Slate. Or Arturia.

nvm

I never thought that NI would be taken over, so, I won't even dare to take a guess.

I hope Apple will stay as far away as possible from Arturia.
When Apple Buys something they tend to only support their own platform.

I have a Feeling that Reasonstudios might see a shift in one shape or another soon.

My 2 cents on this: Arturia surely rethinks their strategy after the soundwide joint venture. But so does Waves and all the other big players.

I figure the rest feels especially threatened by the distribution factor PA brings to the Soundwide table. Different companies like NI or Izotope need a consolidated sales platform.
Any other joint venture faces the same situation. That should put digital distributors like Pluginboutique and even tiny services like ADSR more into the spotlight. Its the obvious move, i feel.

As Roland seem to be struggling with getting a reverb into Roland Cloud I wouldn't mind Roland buying Eventide or Strymon.

This comment will be unsurpassed.

Plugin market was really shining during recent 2 pandemic years. Not so much now, after worldwide inflation turmoil and falling stock markets. So, mergers and acquisitions are to be expected. Except paying to the "big owner guy" is no different than paying to a reseller. However, whereas reseller won't save you in a case of a deep dive, the "big guy" may, at the expense of other participants.
