Where to place Kontakt snapshots?

I like to keep many Kontakt libs on external harddrives, due to their size.
But can snapshots only be stored in my user profile, like this
C:\Users\YourUserName\Documents\Native Instruments\User Content\Kontakt\LibraryX
I really do hope not, how will I else be able to use my snapshots, if I want to load the Lib I got stored on a harddrive on a different computer.

You can copy snapshots over to that computer too, just put them in the equivalent location

That is quite cumbersome compared to using NKI patches, which have got an absolute address, meaning there is no need to shuffle files here or there, just plug in the harddrive open the folder in Kontakt and click on a NKI patch to load it.aMUSEd wrote:You can copy snapshots over to that computer too, just put them in the equivalent location
Surely there must be an easier way to handle usage of snapshots.

It's not like they take up a lot of room - having 'User Content' as a central location for Kontakt snapshots enables them to also be accessed by Komplete Kontrol.

Well, but maybe the sample lib does, which makes it more handy to keep it on external storageaMUSEd wrote:It's not like they take up a lot of room
I don't own Komplete Kontrol, so for me that is quite irrelevant.aMUSEd wrote:having 'User Content' as a central location for Kontakt snapshots enables them to also be accessed by Komplete Kontrol.
I don't think it is good if NI are tailoring their plugs especially for their own hardware products.
How many Kontakt owners also own Komplete Kontrol hardware, less than 5% or more?

What they're trying to do is create a seamless experience for people who do have both, and also Maschine. It works pretty well, and you don't need the hardware, the Kontrol host is free for any Komplete owner and works as a central database of all products and presets. You can still keep the big files on the external drive, snapshots will access them as long as Kontakt knows where the NKIs are.

You can drag and drop snapshot file onto open instrument. Instrument name must match the name used when creating the snapshot, but you can keep it anywhere.

Excellent tip, works greatZombie Queen wrote:You can drag and drop snapshot file onto open instrument. Instrument name must match the name used when creating the snapshot, but you can keep it anywhere.
Then I can keep the snapshots on the harddrive, not moving them, and just drag them from the browers window into Kontakt. And unlike NKI patches, the snapshots loads almost instantly.

This is a terrible bug on NI's part as all 3rd party Kontakt snapshots aren't saved to the .nki file location in your system, so they don't load from inside KK - you just get an error message.aMUSEd wrote: Fri May 05, 2017 9:08 pm It's not like they take up a lot of room - having 'User Content' as a central location for Kontakt snapshots enables them to also be accessed by Komplete Kontrol.
