ok i first thought i might be tired or something but no after many old project checkups and resavings i found out that TR5 CSR sounds completely different.

can anyone re-check please? sadly my CSR and Tracks3 version always dont get authorized (thx to IKMs shitty Authorization manager!) so i replace all my old instances with Tracks 5, gladly the settings are saved and i can replicate them.

Test out:
a percussion sound + CSR Plugin with Preset SLW ATTACK HALL 100% and compare it to Tracks5 Version.

what happened?

A Video demonstration, dont mention the white noise on the old plugin as i said i got the legal versions but it doesnt let me authorize anymore and IKM is just BAD and cannot help me out, why? i dunno, typical IKM quality :P

Can you post some audio examples?

So you want someone who can test both version 3 and the latest version? I have the latest version of the CSR Reverbs but haven't had 3 installed in years.

Could the values of the preset for each version be slightly different?

I‘m pretty sure the old stuff is permanently oversampled after the update. This can change the sound, depending on how sensitive you are to aliasing.

Sounds like this could be the reason. In addition to aliasing, oversampling could also affect other aspects of the sound. Filter coefficients and internal parameters for modulations are different at different sampling rates. Depending on how well this is handled, it could lead to noticeably different sounds.

I remember an old version of Arturia CS-80V had different sound when oversampled. It got noticeably brighter (which I liked) and thinner (which I didn't like). This could be one of the reasons.
Peace, my friends. I'm not seeking arguments here. ;)

We'd really have to hear examples from the OP of TR5 vs TR3 to see what kind of differences we're talking about.

The plugin is now buggy as hell (to the point of being completely unuseable)... at least the BuildUp parameter is not only not properly set/recalled (that's the most obvious difference between both versions of the plugin in your example) but also even if you touch the knob (in order to set the parameter as it should be (turn it just ever so slightly)), it will loose this setting again as soon as you stop playback.

Good find. :tu:

I can confirm Jens findings.

When playback is running, try changing preset and then change back to Slow Atk Hall and you should hear something much closer to the T-RackS 3 version.

This is obviously not workable as you need to do this every time you stop and start playback...

i opened a ticket yesterday at IKM and will provide my pics and video from above and all your findings!

i sadly didnt find a Reverb which sounds nearly as CSR Hall yet, not to get offtopic here but if you have some recommendations (i read some in the other topic, need to take time and test with a percussion or so) i would be happy to replace the plugin ASAP! i just want to get RID of IKM normally , sadly i like the CSR Hall sound on my projects and Tracks is still somehow very nice, i didnt compare it yet with my Fabfilter plugins and see how it is compared.

Relab Sonsig - it won't sound exactly the same, but will get you in the ballpark rather easily and imo sound classier - it's rather flexible too btw. ... it's made by the same developer, but is much newer...

the only drawback is that it uses a lot more CPU (still not terribly much though)

To my ears, similar character, that I tried.

I'm guessing Valhalla vintage is in the same style but I don't have it.
