Not yet decided on Avenger. It's awesome, but I am not much into sound design. But I am not really looking for chords/loops, but playable melodic guitar sounds.

yes that is the right link
Avenger must not be used for sound design, there are many expansion packs, too

you may want to reword that before someone quotes you on it
I assume what you mean is Avenger is not only used for sound design, there are many expansion packs too.

Hehe, I thought so too.
Some people who constantly nag about everything will probably read out of it again, that the terms of usage don't allow to use Avenger for sound design, while Manuel simply meant that you don't necessarily have to use Avenger for sound design.

Given all the EULA traumas, definitely worth clarifying!

On the other hand, those "traumas" also originated from people getting overly hysteric about stuff.noiseboyuk wrote: Wed Jun 01, 2022 12:29 pm Given all the EULA traumas, definitely worth clarifying!

True, but, you also can get the wrong end of the stick constantly. Mostly happens when you have a specific mindset, thus get prejudicial or emotional quickly.
It's not easy for us non-natives. Trust me.

Or from people who don't want to end up in court. You know, either way.chk071 wrote: Wed Jun 01, 2022 12:41 pmOn the other hand, those "traumas" also originated from people getting overly hysteric about stuff.noiseboyuk wrote: Wed Jun 01, 2022 12:29 pm Given all the EULA traumas, definitely worth clarifying!

It would be ridiculous to release a synth which you can't use in commercial productions. Just sayin'.
I never heard of such a thing either. I heard a lot about misconceptions of usage terms though.
Making sure is one thing, getting wrong ideas another.

As you know the debate was never about the synth but aspects of expansions (well any of the debates I have seen).
It is also unusual for a non subscription synth to require to call home after x days (30 and 90) for its continued use.
So yes they may not necessary follow the norm.

The first para might imply you cannot use Avenger in Library music, but it's probably not what they mean.Vengeance Software License - Software Licence, Sample Licence, Rights and Restrictions:
- or include, use, re-sample, mix, process, isolate or embed any content from the Licenced Library in any virtual instrument, audio sampling system, audio playback system or library of any kind, other than those provided or authorized by Us.
- commercially use any compositions, melodies, melody-loops, lyrics, and vocal-samples or parts hereof from any Vengeance Samples or Audio Plugin Libraries. All rights on melodies, musical compositions, lyrics, vocals, and melody-loops included in Vengeance Samples or Audio Plugin Libraries are owned by Us and are reserved.
The second para is the important one - you can't use those SQs or any vocal samples in anything commercial. Legally, it could even apply to Arps.
It's been brought up many times here, but they never make their EULAs any clearer.

I don't know how you came up with "library music" (whatever that is), but, that clearly reads to me like you can' just use samples/content from Avenger, put it in your own virtual instrument, sampler, or sample library, and then sell it as yours. Which is pretty obvious.noiseboyuk wrote: Wed Jun 01, 2022 2:14 pm The first para might imply you cannot use Avenger in Library music, but it's probably not what they mean.
If there's something unclear, the guy who can clear it up has posted a few posts above us. You can also PM him, if there's something unclear about it.noiseboyuk wrote: Wed Jun 01, 2022 2:14 pm The second para is the important one - you can't use those SQs or any vocal samples in anything commercial. I highly doubt that Armin van Buuren wouldn't be able to use Avenger in his commercial music productions though, in most imaginable ways, if that's what your concern is about. I would think that it's pretty much common sense that software developers won't restrict you in that way. Of course, it's a bit more complex with instruments which come with a big library. Again, though, if there's something which is unclear to you, the ones who can tell you are the ones who developed the plugin, and set up those usage terms. Interpretating it in any way we could imagine here is pretty pointless.
