Hey,
Recently I scaled down on my setup and started focusing more on Logic Pro internal synths. To my surprise I found out how powerful and great sounding both Retro Synth and Sculpture in Logic are. Now they have become my to-go synths.
Seems both Retro Synth and Sculpture are underrated? What is your experience and thoughts?

Both Retro Synth and Sculpture sound great. But Sculpture really needs a GUI overhaul to make the interface less overwhelming. The UI for Sculpture was designed when emagic was developing these beautiful interfaces that were almost works of art. But these interfaces were just too busy and cluttered. Plus they are not resizable (without making them blurry). I really wish Apple would go back through all of their old plugins that feature this design aesthetic and bring them up to modern standards (like they did with Alchemy and EXS/Sampler).

Indeed. That would be neat.OllieBoi wrote: Sun May 08, 2022 8:03 am Sculpture really needs a GUI overhaul to make the interface less overwhelming. I'm pretty sure they are indeed working through all of them (or retiring some old ones but making that functionality available elsewhere), but it's no small task as you effectively have to redesign the front end of each plugin, and it has to fit in with everything else they have going on...OllieBoi wrote: Sun May 08, 2022 8:03 amI really wish Apple would go back through all of their old plugins that feature this design aesthetic and bring them up to modern standards (like they did with Alchemy and EXS/Sampler).

i've been using logic for a loooong time, and have used alchemy a lot, but never got into sculpture. but this thread got me thinking, and am checking it out again now... impressive.
may be a 'new' additional to my arsenal (and funny that it's been there all this time)...

I agree Sculpture is under appreciated. It's one of the weirdest setups I've ever encountered, and it creates some really strange and wonderful sounds. It does take some time to become familiar with how to work it, but it's worth it. I can't picture how the gui could be redesigned, but it is admittedly a little hard on the eyes as is.
Retro Synth does have a very good sound base for what it does. But it is kinda limited.

I actually like how it looks, and it is definitely a synth that should be showcased more:

I'm a big Sculpture fan, I used it to make this track for the January one synth challenge: https://soundcloud.com/zachy9/ordinary-eyes
