anyone find a way to authorize the plugin on mac? the OS doesn't recognize it as free of malware and is trying to 'protect me' from myself.

@jasinski copy the VST2, then this is the age-old terminal command (at least on Big Sur):
Code: Select all
sudo xattr -rd com.apple.quarantine /Library/Audio/Plug-Ins/VST/*.vst-

I'm dreading this month a bit because I'm so new, I am almost completely certain mine will sound like a 90's video game and no one else's will.BrainBeatMusic wrote: Fri Jun 03, 2022 3:25 am This will be an interesting challenge given the decent range of sound we can get out of the synths the challenge will be to make it sound like our track wasn't made on a cheap 90s electric piano. I am not sure how easy it will be to get a nice drum sound based on what I have heard so far.
But, if that's what I got, that's what I got, I will embrace it.
Assuming my current bout of melodic writers block abates in time.

Sorry to be rude, but I must say I hate this month's choice.
1) The Linux download links don't work. I can't download them.
2) OK, I can use Windows vsts...
Hmm, wait. The plugins' GUI causes problems. They freeze/crash the entire DAW if I load/unload more than a couple of times, which I have to do to test/switch/load the presets. It may be because I am on Linux with a bridge, but I see other people have reported problems with the GUI.
3) By the way, someone pointed out some "dev version" that is supposed to fix GUI problems. That version has no presets.
4) By the way, is it possible to do anything at all with these synths outside of using the presets?
5) By the way, most of the presets on these two synths are awful. Hard to get any inspiration on this one.
I suspect there won't be a surplus of amazing tracks this month.

It's 4 operator FM, what do you think ? OK, not 'deluxe' 4 operator FM, far from it, but still. Start twisting knobs ! It yields much better results than complaining.lmv wrote: Fri Jun 03, 2022 3:58 pm 4) By the way, is it possible to do anything at all with these synths outside of using the presets?
The worse the synth, the more amazing the outcome, tends to be the way it goes. See OSC 156 - Synister. That was not exactly a dreamsynth either. To put it mildly.lmv wrote: Fri Jun 03, 2022 3:58 pm I suspect there won't be a surplus of amazing tracks this month.![]()

Complicated, I don’t understand everything, but it seems to be working, I don’t know if I’ll have time to do something this month.

It seems I jumped in at the wrong time. Last month was just too complicated and overwhelming and this month I'm also confused. I'm a newbie and have never touched FM synthesis yet.
I will give this one a go, But then I reread the rules, I'll submit something but as I don't post much I guess it'll be a few months before I can fully participate.
This month I'll be under the learning tree (YouTube or general websites) any helpful links would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
Adam.

I don't know FM synthesis either. I tweak things a little, but I rely a lot on presets. Judging by the choice of presets included with these two synths, I suspect they can't sound much better than that even in skilled hands. I mean, if that's what they have to showcase it...AmoralAudio wrote: Fri Jun 03, 2022 4:55 pm It seems I jumped in at the wrong time. So you still can compose something based on the presets or maybe just sit it out if you don't like any of them. I've been trying to put some ideas together, but I really don't like the sounds. That's chiptune grade stuff to me so I will probably skip this one.

I did try some preset stuff with last month's but it just ended up sounding duff, but I will persevere.lmv wrote: Fri Jun 03, 2022 5:14 pm I don't know FM synthesis either. If nothing else try adding OTT and Valhalla supermassive to presets. Or https://simoncann.com/news-feed/novembe ... published/

I'm having trouble figuring out how to even save a new preset.
Also I'm puzzled by the preset banks, some seem to load in new presets but others seem to only load in the standard grand piano honky tonk piano sitar etc.
