I would like to share my experience of plugins from devs that are no good for a fast workflow for me, cuz they are cpu hogs and/or have long plugin loading times or make daw crash or are buggy.
A. High on CPU
1. IK Multimedia Tape T-Racks plugins,
very crazy high on cpu, that's why I do not like using them, also some VSTi are pretty high, but VSTi is something different
2. Izotope, especially Ozone still a bit too
high, even though cpu has been improved over the years
3. Some Roland Cloud VSTi like Jupiter or System 8
4. Waves, maybe 99% of Waves plugin have a good cpu performance, but especially Waves Abbey Road Chamber could be improved. Do u know some more?
B. Plugin loading times
1. Arturia, way too long, that's why I do not use Arturia. Even loading presets of Vsti takes pretty much time
2. Current version of Sampletank and AmpliTube. Older versions were better
3. Softube Amp Room
4. Waves could improve it, too, when you load a plugin you have to watch a golden W moving, it's like Waves is celebrating a loading of their plugin each time
C. Plugins causing crash of daw
1. Some IK Multimedia plugins here
and then, especially TR5 Sunset Sound Studio Reverb
2. UVI Relayer
3. Relab LX480
D. buggy plugins
1. UVI VSTi synths. Workstation causes Midi stuck notes
2. PA Bettermaker. No bug, but what a bad gui for a pretty good eq!
I would like to add companies that either did not reply to emails at all or replied very late
No reply from
UVI, IK Multimedia, ddmf
(I do not buy from such companies any more!)
Very late reply
Softube, Arturia
Best customer service: Waves, even though once they could not solve the problem, but they reply quickly and try to help
That's just my experience!
Do you have same, similar or other experiences?
Cpu, loading time, crash, bugs

Softube plugins basically hang the DAW ("not responding") while they instantiate. Painful.
I've also noticed that iLok Cloud plugins take ages to load the first time you open a project after rebooting. Also if your internet connection isn't the most stable, then your iLok Cloud plugins can dropout in the middle of rendering... ugh.

My experience is that some Baby Audio plugins might have too much aliasing, but not an issue with Reaper any more, because you can apply oversampling to every plugin.
I agree with IKM, crashing sometimes and a complicated policy and not very fast or helpful support.
Softube only VST3 works 4 me, but that's ok, sometimes I don't get the mojo of some hyped Softube plugins.
Acustica Audio plugins sometimes want me to re-authorize a plugin, that's annoying.
As to iLok only sometimes with Lexicon plugins some issues, plugins simply can not be found or load sometimes all of a sudden.
I have stopped using Arturia, plugin loading times simply are not acceptable.
NI Komplete was my first bigger plugin investment, do not use NI for about 3 years any more, new stuff simply is not my cup of tea.
I can't tell about PA support, because I never needed it, but imo best and simple plugin management (demo, download and install and plugin manager not using cpu or ram all the time like iLokmanager or some other)
Best loading times and cpu performance PA and AIR TE plugins, Waves not bad, too imo
