I thought it would be interesting to have a thread for the ongoing trend of products from different Soundwide partners sharing technologies and content.

Today, iZotope announced its Music Production Suite 5 which for the first time includes Effects products from Soundwide Partner Brainworx.

In a few days, Plugin Alliance will release MEGA Sampler which will have sample content from Native Instruments.

And already, the new Traktor Beta includes iZotope Ozone processing on its Master Bus.

So... I wonder what's next??

Any guesses?

Post

My "hope", but not a next thing prediction, would be for Native Instruments to have their KK Keyboards integrate tightly with the upcoming MEGA Sampler.. to the point of NKS even.

Maybe too much to hope for this soon.

Here's what Dirk Ulrich (founder of Brainworx, Plugin Alliance) said today about iZotope Neutron 4:

Dirk Ulrich: The iZotope team is one of the best in this biz... just wait for what else they have cooking!

NI and PA's marketing people are hard at work studying under Izotope to learn how to take an existing product, add two features, call it a major version update and then charge $150 for it.

NI will grab Iris and Trash and will continue to not upgrade it.

NI has a lot of technical debt and they still haven't ported most of their stuff to Apple Silicon. They are supposed to have a dedicated team that is working on a JUCE like framework. Maybe that will make sure that all of their products get updated in a timely manner and that they can more easily support changes as they come.

Not even to Hdpi which is around for how long??? Same for izotope and at least the half of the brainworx products...
I think here are collaborating the most not trustworthy but most expensive companies in audio land... no...thx!

Birds of a feather flock together... :tu:

yeah, but within 2 months, they'll throw it out for $30.

I think the market is largely set for Distortion plugins.

As for Iris, well, unless they can perform a miracle and make the CPU use comparable to subtractive synths (impossible), people will just rag on it for being a CPU hog.

The trick with iZotope is to upgrade every other version, or even every third version, unless you get a really amazing deal on a bundle upgrade/crossgrade during a promotional period.

Same with Komplete, IMVHO.

"Notifications for Nothing" are annoying. Blocking me in return is a good way to avoid this.

It looks like for the next few years we will see "new" products which in reality are a cross-mix between already existing plugins and tech from NI-PA-iZ.

When Izotope "Include" plugins from "Partners" it normally means that those products will soon be replaced with a matching Izotope product with their style of UI, not sure if that will be the case here.
The elephant in the room at Soundwide is NI, their plugins are so out of date in terms of UI and Mac, it will be near impossible for all of them to make it through much longer as viable commercial entities.
Does anybody really think that Massive and Absynth for instance, have much life left in them without a complete UI overhaul and M1 support, but they still sell them.

I consider FM8, Absynth, and Massive dead. Battery seems to be the next with the lackluster 4.2 update despite being released recently does not have any compatibility update for VST3 or Apple Silicon.Key team on those plugins might be long gone when NI laid off half of the staff.
It wouldn't surprise me too see them absent in Komplete 14

Massive is a modern classic and I'd be sad to see it go although at this point I wouldn't be surprised. Pretty sketchy to include it as NI's major contribution to the Soundwide bundle if that's the case though. Maybe if they discontinue it Arturia will add an emulation of it with extended features to V Collection :P

Edit: Actually, I just remembered that most Maschine expansions have Massive presets. Surely they've got to keep it around because of that?

NI is not one to keep something around just because they sold it to you. They will drop support on stuff even if they sold you plenty of expansions (see Kore).

One good sign of MEGA Sampler being NKS is the fact that Plugin Appliance bx_oberhausen is NKS...

So perhaps this WILL be the case.
