Been playing with the MIDI Mutator today and agree with what Dan says regarding the "Midi Learn" capability.

I've had some reasonable results so far but understand it is a "Work in progress" and thank Attila for this early sneak preview of what will come.

I'd like to be able to take a phrase from the composition screen and edit the phrase in the Mutator and then put it back into the composition screen. At the moment it looks like you can only drag external midi files into the Mutator (great name by the way) and the only way to get the result into the composition page is to copy to clipboard and then paste. I'td be good if the chords / tempo etc were carried back too.

It's definitely getting there and shows a lot of promise. Thanks again Attila.

I would have preferred this to be a generator with a Midi Learn rather than a separate tab but we'll see were it goes to next.

I did not know the note lengths are so important in a rhythm pattern.
I thought what mattered is where the notes start.
I am working on a rhythm generator especially for this purpose.
A new beta version will be uploaded in a few minutes with some suggestions implemented...

• A modern rhythm generator added in the MIDI Mutator (Modern irregular rhythm)
• Shift-double click opens a phrase in the MIDI Mutator
• New action in the phrase inspector: "Open in MIDI Mutator"

Hi Attila.

I dragged a midi phrase into the composition then shift+dbl Click to edit in the mutator = ok
Chords>Randomize progression using 4 chords = ok
Apply changes with Chords = Program crashes.

This happens whether absolute notes or chord relative.
Edit: This may be because the original clip is polyphonic if that helps.
This is the midi clip and the .rcMMUT file.

Thanks for adding that feature irregular Rhythm Is massively important.

The only thing though we still kind of back to the same trial and error of hitting the regeneration button try to get some think good,

it would be so much easier if it would just analyse the rhythm that you import and only regenerate rhythms using the imported midi parameters, that way you get closer to where you want to be straight away.


I just want to be able to hear a rhythm from any genre of music that are like and generate similar rhythms without having to work out how many sixteenths 8th notes etc are in that rhythm.

In the forums people have asked previously for presets for genres this would solve that problem because you could import the midi from the genres you want to make.

I don't make rock music but I like Nirvana so I'd like to be able to put one of their midi files in and create similar guitar riffs for example.

Q: How can I clear the MIDI Mutator and reset it to a desired length?

What I'm doing is adding a phrase, playing with it in MM, and then when I've had enough of that one, I want to start again and work with a different phrase. What I'm seeing is that MM keeps growing to the right and I don't see how to prevent or reset that.

Hello Attila!
Is it possible to do quantization in Mutator
that works independently of the generation, but simply quantization of the phrase visible in the Mutator, according to the setting of the quantization button ?
