Two years is nothing. And if you work really hard at a bad idea, it's still gonna be a bad idea. Aside from becoming technically proficient, you need to become creatively proficient as well: good at generating ideas and working on them. That's something you can train. A lot of it is about what you do when you're not sitting down to make tracks, staying healthy and inspired (if you surround yourself with shit, you will make shit and feel like shit). And then there's definitely some timing involved as well. Knowing when to sit down. If that means two years of just staring at your gear, I'd say it's worth it.

No one is good after only 2 years. In my case it was about 10 years before everything clicked and my productions were actually "good enough". Maybe if you actually go to school and learn production, that'd hurry the process along a bit, but I really do think it takes about 10 years... sorry.

I dunno. You might find it interesting to read about how much trouble, time and effort it took Trevor Horn to get Frankie Goes To Hollywood's Relax right. And when you listen to it, there really isn't much of a song in there, it's all in the production.

That's the problem for me. It should be right up my alley, considering the general context of the group, but when it came out,I listened to it and there wasn't much of a song in there

they used to practice, in the flat, downstairs from a very old girlfriend. not she was old, but it was a long time ago.
they did not sound anything like what was heard on records.
far more "punk" tbh. so the records were a bit of a surprise, but it was the dawn of "club" music, becoming more mainstream, and it kind of made sense in a gay punks meet the club scene way.
and is f**king cool.

A hobby is kind of a thing where if you dont like doing it, you dont do it.
It is also, imo, the kind of thing where being 'lost' is not a huge problem.

You think you produce bad music. Maybe. But that is personal. Saying, it cannot listen to Madonna for example, makes me puke, also most of other stuff. Even classical recordings, in my view 99% is garbage, not because of the composer, but the performance.
Try to find out, what it really is, that you want to find in music. Listen to your heart.
And relax. Have fun with music, otherwise it seems waste of time.
