I guess you can’t please everyone.*

They sound in the same ball park to you? Hmmm (even ignoring that one is an ob-8 and one is based off of the ob -xa)
not to me..
Actually I got a patch this guy did on Obsession from GearS that is quite nice.

If I want those sounds Diva covers them well enough for me (I skipped TAL's for that reason too.. ) YMMV. And, yeah, I know you can use things in their modular (which I own, it's part of their bundle). Just not a fan of the "feel", and CPU usage tends to be quite high..

I hoped they'd tackle the "harder" stuff. This kinda feels like a step backwards, even from the Juno 106, in that regard. But I know the SH-101 has its fans, just like the 303. Just not sure if they needed another option at this point either.
Diva is not a magic wand that can automatically sound just like stand alone, focused emulations. You may not like the sounds, but that only means Diva is a viable replacement for people who also don’t like the sounds of the 101 enough to get a specific emulation.

I’m liking the sound of M82 > TAL101, but the additional features on the 101 are great (and it still sounds good, of course!). I might end up with 2 101 synths. And no Diva (deleted).

There’s multiple versions by different software companies of lots of synths. Just consider the Model D for a moment. However, I do agree, and hope they do something more complex next. It’ll probably be a 303, though.

What Softube does different is their synth modules can be used in Modular.

Hmmm...
Anyone with a SH 101 who remembers which is accurate (I tend to think the Tal one is).
(although watching this, maybe it is the softube that is... )

I still own two SH-101's and I don't care which software is more accurate. What is the SH-101? It is a CEM 3340 VCO and a Roland VCF/VCA. Nothing wrong with that, but also, so what? What made it great, IMNSHO, is how great it was to use live, and no software can be that.

That said, having the filter in modular with an FM and Resonance modulation may be worth the price of admission, assuming that they nailed the sound. I still haven't bought into module, I demoed it on the last model NNNNNNNwhatever release but didn't buy owing to the Juno's filter not having any interesting inputs in modular.

Maybe I will demo it, but probably not.

This is a great video about using a SH-101 live

If only they made things that, you know, controlled things with computer language stuff, like, maybe that MIDI thing. I know! If only there were such things as MIDI controllers!

They sound in the “great sounding synthesizer” ballpark, if you’re asking. When he first hits that chord I instantly thought, “yeah, that Oberheim… amazing. And then I’m wrong. Sounds like an Oberheim to me. Did I ever own an Oberheim? No. I’ve got Obsession and Xa V. I think they sound different, but I really couldn’t tell you which one sounded “better” to me. I wouldn’t have bought Xa because I already had Obsession, but there were other synths I wanted in V Collection, so it was part of the upgrade. Honestly, if the real deal is so important to you, you should buy one and just be happy.

That's what I told myself to justify buying Model 82, even though I already have a Roland SH-01A and the Roland Cloud SH-101 plugin.

I don't actually use Modular much though. It sounds fantastic, but it really needs a UI overhaul as it's just too clunky. I've been hoping for awhile now that they're working on a new interface that's similar to the new Amp Room UI. Seems likely, but it's taking quite awhile.

I know some people don't agree with me on this, but my main complaints about Softube synths is that they often lack effects. But with this one the Doubler and Drive are an excellent match that really pushes it into an alternative sound. I'll grab this one as soon as my morning coffee goes into effect.

Now I guess it's just a matter of days before Arturia does their 101 :)

Please do soundsets for all Softube's analog modelled synths... Including Modular 😇

The gui is way too pretty in this one, it makes all the other modules in modular look really icky.

I tried the demo, found the promo code and bought the Model 82. To my ears it sounds one of the most juiciest and oomphiest VST's around! I like the Drive and Doubler very much too.

I used to own sh-09 and SH-101 back in the eighties and if my memory serves me right this is pretty close to SH-101!
