This.

Actually I'm less fussed about Bitwig and Ableton's MIDI shortcomings now as I've been playing with using Blue Cat Patchwork and Connector and it lets you do a lot of the routing I could only do easily before in Reaper, so now I can easily get a HY plugins SEQ-32 preset with 3 midi channels and route each MIDI channel off to run different hardware synths. This used to be a ballache before, but now not so bad.

Yes, Ableton need to fix the midi merge problem to enable multiple channel outs from a number of very useful plugins such as Audiomodern’s Riffer.

Audio to MIDI and a decent drum sequencer (inegrated to the UI) in REAPER. Megababy is just ugly and looks bad docked.

cubase
- ability to route one Input to Several different outputs, not just one.. daisy chaining ( serial) is cool and all but sometimes you just want parallells and then route them all into one. And more reasons.
I think reaper allows you to route one channel into as many other channels you want? And Reason definitely can do it, with its marvelous little I/O device which i dont remember the name of atm
you can only do sends for that in cubase..

- non stupid hitpoint detection. Sometimes they just are all over the place, and doesnt at all match neither Transient in audio nor beat in a tempo.
Ableton is better at hit point detection. Studio one also seems to be, but studio one is clunkier to use, and sometimes it acts in ways i dont want it to act, so i tend to want to stick to cubase. Afterall, moving hitpoints manually in cubase is a breeze, i just wish the algorithm would be smarter.

A good Arpeggiator (Cakewalk Sonar vs Cubase old Arps) :)
The Arp in Sonar is miles ahead of what Cubase offers.

Bitwig and alias/ghost clips.

Wish Ableton would automatically categorize plugins like Cubase does. (And also ARA support.)

if I could record in FL's 'performance mode' I would be in hog heaven. It's a vexxing thing to me. I mean, I can use the step seq and the piano roll, but I can't realtime record. Am I weird to want this?

I wish every DAW had the plugin-menu customisation capabilities of Sonar/Cakewalk, including the switchable menu sets.

I wish Reaper had a built-in simple 4-operator FM synth, that would make it complete for me.

I wish Ableton wouldn't map all MIDI channels to channel 1. Routing by MIDI channel is impossible.

Well it is possible, but a real pain in the arse. I can get it working using a combination of Ableton and BlueCat Audio's plugins BC Connector and Patchwork.
It's a lengthy process so I created a thread for it...

You will wait for a long time if it's ever implemented at all. Those greedy Company's are playing with the expectations of the users and any minor implementation is costing a pile of cash. Funny thing.
The majority of the users don't get it, Lol.

thanks. but a lengthy process like that is exactly the reason i wish they would address it in the DAW.
