I am sure you allowed selection in multiple tracks ("Inhibit phrase selection in multiple tracks" UNCHECKED) and you have a phrase selected in another track. That is the reason.

Hi Attila. I'll try to explain .. In the Programs folder, RC (as shown by the info window) 4.4.0 was installed. OK . But if I open it, I see 4.3.4. Also, if I open not a standalone program, but a composition file .rcCOMP , the standalone 4.3.4 still opens. Where does 4.3.4 come from if 4.4.0 is installed? Only 4.4.0 is installed in the Programs folder. I uninstalled the RC, reinstalled and rebooted the Mac. With Vst the same. And how to win it?

this beta version is not different from v4.3.4, only a newer version. It uses the same settings, and everything else as v4.3.4.
What do you mean by "RC keeps opening all Compositions in 4.3.4"?

Hi Attila. I upgraded to beta 4.14 but RC keeps opening all Compositions in 4.3.4. I've tried deleting and reinstalling the program several times and even deleted the RapidComposerV4 folder in Documents. MAC OS 10.13.6. Why is this possible?

Yes, that's why I suggested making the play button together with the sound of the composition)

Ctrl-click on the PLAY button also starts composition playback, so this works already.
This info is included in the pop-up help.

I understand that part but the only problem is you don't have another button so you can actually open up the VST and change the sound.

There's no plug icon like you have in the main RC page

It is probably an install location issue.. His shortcut is pointing to the wrong version.

Generally, I use a beta install directory in addition to a production install directory..

Thanks for the answer, but unfortunately it's not, because firstly, I always control the installation way and location, and secondly, I only have one RC application on the disk (checked). You are correct that I had "Inhibit phrase selection in multiple tracks" UNCHECKED, and that the Size options returned when I check that.

Also, I can do a 'Deselect All Phrases' and then the next single-phrase selection after that gives me the Size options back.

many thanks, you have found a hidden bug! There was a problem with VST plug-in instances.

Just throwing this out there but I wondered what the appetite would be for this to be a generator rather than a separate tab. A bit like the markov except with the mutator parameters and the facility to drop a midi file. An existing phrase could be converted to a "mutator" phrase.

Even better, at the moment any phrase can be edited in the MIDI Mutator! Apply the results with chords, and all other tracks will follow the new chords. IMO this is better than having a dedicated mutator generator.

I am going to implement Markov-like analysis that also works for polyphonic music in the near future. I must release RC v4.4 with the MIDI Mutator next Monday (with a summer sale) because later it makes no sense, everyone is on summer vacation...

I accidentally built the stable version but the about box had the wrong version number.

The reason I mentioned the generator is because currently, if I create a new composition (defaults to four chords in C Major) and then go the the mutator tab and directly drag in a midi file into the mutator tab from my desktop (which is then analyzed as A Minor for example), the only way I can get that to the composition tab is to copy to clipboard and paste but the composition tab doesn't inherit the pasted mutator chords or key by that method, and is still set to C Major with four chords.

The only workaround as I see it, is to make a note of the key analysis in the mutator, go back to the composition tab and change the key, then paste the midi clip, then Shift+dbl Click to open the clip in the mutator and then apply changes with chords but it seems a bit clunky. Is there a better way perhaps?

I can see the advantage of being able to edit any phrase in the mutator so maybe it's about finding a way of getting a directly dragged file into the composition with associated chords / key.

I can do a video to illustrate if you would like.

The polyphonic analysis sounds great.
Good luck with the summer sale, the mutator is a great addition.
