That bit crusher on Roland modeling synths :?

My 2 cents:

I had a very positive expectation for the Softube Model 82 when I read the news. The demos on youtube were a disappointment. I don't like the sound. I am self aware enough that I would say that I would need to do a blind test to be sure. But my impression was negative.

I was surprised about this and this let me to check out demos for Arturia's MS-20. I had ignored that because I didn't like any of Arturia's analog emulations so far. Result: Arturia's MS-20 was a positive surprise for me. I am not buying it. I would rather buy a Korg MS-20 Mini. I am not sure how close Arturia are. But it has a quality that is above their previous synths. Again, that was my spontaneous impression.

SH 101 is not an interesting synth to me but Softube did a fantastic job with this synth.ms20 would be great

PAK wrote: Fri Jun 10, 2022 9:58 pm A note of caution with the "Softube Software Center" - It defaults to auto applying a software based iLok license to your drive when you use it to install software.

This means, even if you're already using a hardware iLok, it will go ahead and use a second set of activations whilst giving you absolutely no indicator that it's done this. Nice.

So, if you use a hardware iLok, you might want to turn this "auto install license" off in the Centers settings.
Yes, this is a right pita. Why default it and not ask....

That's my impression as well after trying the demo.

Frankly, the synth itself is too limited for me. I bet you can get a couple of nice bass sounds out of it, but...

They really do that, don't they. :) All that greyed out stuff in modular. :D It's a bit blatant, but, hey.

every time you Softube Modular, you feel, you miss something, indeed very sneaky...

but i have enought to play around with in Softube Modular.

Model 82, seems great to me, but i don't feel i would used it, even in Softube Modular.

Model 72, well, i use in Softube Modular.. and Parallels...

I might get the Model 84 at some point (still don't have a proper Roland Juno emu). They had some nice sales with the Model 72 for 49 € in the past. Hope the same happens with Model 84 some time.

Demoed. Made a sound that immediately found its way into a new production. So i had to buy it.

I have to agree with some of the posts above. Softube really did a great job on this, but personally I don't care about monosynths like the SH-101. It did however revive my interest in Model 84 by Softube, which is currently on sale. I already have DCO-106 and Jun 6V, but I couldn't resist and bought it :hyper:

Echoes in the Attic wrote: Fri Jun 10, 2022 2:18 pm Well I resisted for a couple days but ended up buying, despite wishing they had done something else. But Softube are just the most accurate analog emulations out there. I didn't really need it but bought because:
-Tal is great, but like u-he and synapse I feel they are 99% there, whereas Softube is 99.9% there on their emulations.
-Having the modules in modular is cool. And isn't the 101 components similar to the Roland system 100? Feels like having something like that with these in modular now with audio rate modulations.
-Also if supporting them will help them make more classic emulations (like the MS-20!) then I will do so!
It's an absolute cracker. I hope they make more synths.

This is definitely an absolute top tier emulation.

I hope they’ll make an ms-20 but please no more glitches on the UI ! It’s ridiculous ! It is software and a very good one, why making it « used » ? And no more keyboard !

I see their gui on all the Models as a work of art and different to all those clinical boring ones that other vst have.

In my Eyes they are awesome
