Apologies for this newbie question. I am using a Babyface Pro audio interface. I have been working 100% in headphones but I may buy a pair of powered monitors which apparently receive input signal through XLR female. Babyface Pro has 2 sets of XLR connectors on the back (male and female xlr) but the user manual does not make clear which set (male or female) are the outputs. I am hoping that the male XLR is the output but could someone educate me so I purchase the correct XLR cable?

XLR cables should be just male-female. That way they always work, either for mic -> input or output -> monitor.

Its consistent with the monitors ie inputs are female, outputs are male.

However all sane XLR cables should be male one end, female on the other. So whatever end is left after you plugin to your monitors should match the correct connection on the Babyface.... ;)

Never hurts to get a second opinion - different wording but similar message ;-)
