Shame that they never build in 2 oscillators in their budget synths. Apart from the brand name, I really can't see why you wouldn't spend $50 less, and get the Boog with 3 VCO's, and a lot more.

I don't really see this as Moog going budget. It's still a Moog price, considering what you get.

budget compared to other moogs, and yes indeed very simple, but that's what modular people want (some) an additional oscillator, or filter ...
it's rarely about the unit you get in the box alone

same with the cre8audios two, not massively extensive alone, but with other bits, and the prices of for example an individual filter module, then 250/350 is peanuts for these.

Lets see, the West Pest has folding and midi IN for $250. The Mavis has folding and NO midi IN for $350. Hhm

As a synth in its own right it is extremely meh. Horrible little keyboard and the tiny knobs and no MIDI. Poor integration of that wavefolder in the overall design -- it should have been a triangle core synth, or the LFO should have been designed as a proper VCO with good tracking and calibration, or they could have put the folder after the filter in the signal path. And no CV control over the folder. It does not compare favorably to West Pest or 0-Coast or a used Minibrute 2S or even Volcas IMHO. It's basically an upgraded Werkstatt.

Where this might make some sense is for people who want a Moog ladder filter and some other stuff added to their modular. Or for beginners who just want to play with a synth and have heard Moog is good.

I feel like this is a product that makes sense for Moog to sell, but doesn't make sense for most electronic musicians to buy. Some number of Eurorack nerds would probably happily buy a dedicated Moog filter module, but the Eurorack market is much smaller than the one for standalone semi-modulars.

yeah, as i said above, some folk may want the moog bits in a bigger system, but i prefer both the cre8audio offerings, each has midi in and out, but more importantly, full modularity of all the stages in the unit. even 0coast doesn't give the option to feed other things to the wavefolder for example.
and i have no real desire for another ladder filter, or a moog for the name.
so i think ill be leaving this, but it's a decent little synth for a beginner, some of the videos do have nice sounds happening, so i can see it being fun and useful too for many folk

In Germany it is sold for 399 Euro. WTF currency exchange rate is this? Keep your diy set, don't care about the Moog sticker on it!

..was thinking better wait for Dreadbox Murmux 8 voice - this one is just too limited options wise..
