That they sell it used now for 100 € more, or even more than that, just shows how sick the used prices are. Never ever will I pay that for such a limited synth, especially when it has signs of wear.

From a production quality standpoint, take Deadmau5 for example. Love him or hate him, his music has superb production quality. Last I checked he is running everything through a Neve console with everything in Dolby. So my only real question is, what artists in Trance are putting out high level production quality music right now?

Is Deadmau5's stuff not Tarnce? What is it, then and why is it not Tarnce? (The spelling is an old KVR joke, for those who may not remember.)

It has trance elements for sure, but also electro house and techno, and this changes from track to track. And like other artists like Orbital, Underworld he's really got his own style that he's evolved over time. He's been pretty prolific and has some really amazingly crafted tracks.

I was fortunate enough to see him at Brixton Academy on Friday last week and his set was really banging, much more like an underground club vibe. He started with a half hour of pretty hard techno before moving into some his own tracks. Really pretty epic show with some really great visuals.

Could have bought it anyway, and sell it for a riduclous price later.

It's actually something I considered a few times. Even I don't use the stuff much in the end, in times like these, when Behringer or another company stops to produce it, you can always sell it for 100, 200, 300 € more than what you actually bought it for new.

On the other hand, I'm not sure if I really have the character to rip other people off. I believe in a fair deal, and, this isn't fair. Well, for one side, it's fair. More than fair.

The comments under that new Dash Glitch video baffle me. "A step backwards" "A poor attempt at the sound of a 101", I mean really? Sure as hell sounds like a 101 to me. At the very least, it's close enough to not matter. Artists that I know who actually release music are not spending their time comparing waveforms in oscilloscopes. In fact most don't even care if software emulations are all that accurate, they just care if it sounds good to them or not, seeing as most of them have never even played the synths being emulated.

I agree it's really great. I think the secret sauce is in the filter envelope, and adding the right distortion is just ++++.

I'm going to really enjoy using this.

I thought the distortion was very ordinary, like they'd just put Saturation Knob in there. On the few presets I tried to use it on it was either too subtle or too full-on and not sounding very good. Or maybe it's just there for that stupid, done to death a thousand times over, acid bassline sound?

I'm really liking this model 82. I have only touched a real 101 barely, a friend has one. I like the limited architecture somehow, even the just mono nature. It sounds very good to me and the sounds I get are more diverse than I thought. Loving the modules for Modular too. I am very happy with the purchase.

The distortion isn't that great, neither is the doubler. Most people would have something better

This sent me on a distortion shootout (the things we do for fun) and out of 20 or so distortions/saturators I found a 2-3 different distortions that I thought took this synth into an Epic level.

Ebay Classifieds isn't much better, unfortunately.

You want to shout "People, stop buying for such insane prices!". But, it's hopeless. If people want it, right now, they will easily part with their money. You know how the saying goes, with the fool and his money.

I'd say summery and floaty more than cheesy. And you could say trance gates have been hugely overdone since then.

These mixes have some cracking bits of music, some great melodies and structure, and quite a lot of variety, which I think sets trance from that time apart from what came later.

This is also mostly pre-supersaw and it's not all trance gates.
