Sure. And perhaps you could refrain from posting non-value adding, asinine comments?
You see, for the vast majority of people who deal with audio software in any capacity (these are end users btw), it doesn't matter one bit if UA, VST, etc are platforms or standards by definition.
I apologize if the meme has been over used, but please spare me condescending remarks like that.

I thought it was the chili beans
The highest form of knowledge is empathy, for it requires us to suspend our egos and live in another's world. It requires profound, purpose‐larger‐than‐the‐self kind of understanding.

I use Studio One, which also supports VST2, VST3, ARA, ARA2, AudioUnits, and it’s own proprietary plugins. PreSonus may even support CLAP at some point, since supporting every free and open format appears to be their MO. But few plugin developers are going to invest the substantial resources in developing and supporting another platform on top of all of the others they already do, if they’re not missing out on market share by not. If Logic and Pro Tools supported VST, plugin developers wouldn’t put in the resources for AU and AAX, either. That costs lots of money, especially for tech support. Why would any company want to take on those costs if there’s no additional profit?dayjob wrote: Thu Jun 16, 2022 8:37 pm it's weird how my DAW supports more than one plug in type though.. at the same time.. in the same session on the same channel... i can mix and match AU2/AU3/VST2/VST3 + max for live and ableton native plug ins.
also, do you want to buy my one t-racks plug in? i can't stand to use it because if i want to install the update i have to install like 100 other plug ins that i don't own because their installer is the biggest pos in the business and won't allow me to pick only the plug in i own. /rant and ikm is not going to be on the bleeding edge of anything.. you don't even need to mention them.
As for IK not being on the bleeding edge, that’s right. They approach resource allocation very cautiously. All of the major developers do. Even more so Native Instruments and Waves. Only small indie developers can afford to play fast and loose. Few have much in the way of a front office. They also don’t have dozens of employees or handle tens of millions of dollars per year. But it’s companies like IK, NI, and Waves that make the bulk of the plugins that most users are using.

Arturia are a very big early interested party. And Avid.
Maybe the team just started with the big names alphabetically?

We haven't really started at all. As I posted elsewhere, most contacts on "the list" were purely coincidental. Devs talking to each other, telling them about CLAP "getting there", "yeah? when?", "join?", "yeah", except for a few "let's talk to those guys now" during the last few days.noiseboyuk wrote: Thu Jun 16, 2022 9:46 pm Arturia are a very big early interested party. The actual work of talking to people started with the announcement. And I've seen screenshots from multiple plug-ins being ported in the matter of days. Or one day, exactly, since yesterday.

I highly doubt that is going to happen for obvious reasons.
Years ago when Avid/DigiDesign was facing the end of Motorola DSPs and fixed point maths, there were rumours they were going to adopt VST. And they in fact did study it. In the end they opted to develop their own floating point plugin format, AAX, which they are heavily invested in. It looks like they've got their hands full as it is in porting AAX to Apple Silicon. They may very well study CLAP, just as they did VST, but I just don't see it arriving at a decision to support it in the end.

Yes, they were looking at adopting VST and they stopped at reading the license, since they didn't want to be dependant on another company's whims. Entirely legitimate decision.
Situation is very different now, because CLAP is license unencumbered.

But the situation is also that they are now deeply entrenched in AAX, and other than Apple Silicon support, they are not facing any kind of major upheaval to their framework.
