I'm surprwised nothing has been posted about this, that I can find anyway. It looks kind of interesting, if a little over the top feature-wise.

Has anyone used it yet? Any impressions to share?

I think it looks quite interesting. Kind of like a MainStage competitor but more advanced (but also slightly less slick looking). And the price is right considering you get a light sequencer along with live performance tools.
I use Cubase for my main host but just upgraded my Ableton Live license to start implementing it more in our church music system. But curious to see how this one is as an alternative as it has some cool things in there.

Yeah, it's kind of liek Studio One's Show Pge on steroids but the thing I don't understand is there is no mention of being able to open Cubase projects in it, which seems kind of odd to me. What's the point if you have to re-do everything from scratch in yet another application?

I bought it. In some areas it seems great. But right now it seems quite raw and for me Gig Performer is more advanced in terms of layering and audio routing. Also Vst Live have no vst2 support, only vst 3.
I have Cubase and would want Vst Live to be part of Steinberg soft family. Let's see how they develop it further.

You can import and export Cubase projects using "Import Media Project" and "Export Media Project."BONES wrote: Thu Jun 16, 2022 3:26 pm Yeah, it's kind of liek Studio One's Show Pge on steroids but the thing I don't understand is there is no mention of being able to open Cubase projects in it, which seems kind of odd to me. According to their forum, it does support vst2 as well, you just need to specify the paths in prefs.

Anyway, the application seems unfinished. Good idea, but i hope they will develop it in a more stable app.

Yeah... though, I was pointed to another app, where they possibly copied most ideas/concepts for it from, called Camelot Pro by AudioModeling - https://audiomodeling.com/camelot-pro/koolkeys wrote: Thu Jun 16, 2022 3:15 pm I think it looks quite interesting. Kind of like a MainStage competitor...
Only glanced at the website overview, but it too looks quite interesting - certainly, since it was first released in 2018, its understandably a step or two up from VST Live feature wise.

This neither seems to support lighting (DMX) nor video-files though, so it's a whole lot and then some less than VST Live - which really is a Godsend by the look of it. It seems like a lovechild between your typical music live-environment (one of the better ones actually) and QLab (which is MacOnly btw.). This is clearly a new major player.thebutler wrote: Thu Jun 16, 2022 7:07 pmYeah... though, I was pointed to another app, where they possibly copied most ideas/concepts for it from, called Camelot Pro by AudioModeling - https://audiomodeling.com/camelot-pro/koolkeys wrote: Thu Jun 16, 2022 3:15 pm I think it looks quite interesting. The one thing missing from this that I can see being a dealbreaker for me is that you can’t edit parts, like a MIDI file. You can import MIDI I believe but you can’t edit it. So if you have a track with a premade part and need to edit, you have to jump to Cubase to do it.
Overall it does look rather nice. The problem is that they probably don’t want to make it into a “Cubase Lite”. Like with Dorico, which is excellent, they haven’t really put a lot into integrating it with Cubase. There is a lack of consistency between the two for things like expression maps.
So my fear is that they will not implement things like this in the near future. One of the devs said on the forums something to the effect of not being able to edit MIDI directly, but that they would “work on” integrating better with Cubase.
So we will see. The app still looks solid but I feel like it lacks a couple of things to make it excellent. I may still pick it up at some point as I’m a Cubase and Dorico and Halion (and Wavelab Cast, for what it’s worth lol) user already. But who knows lol.

Camelot looks great, except for one thing - no MIDI so you can't use it as a sequencer, just a multi-track audio player.
Last night I posted a question on teh Steinberg forum, and I know it went through because I edited out a coupleof typos after it published, but this morning there is no sign of it. I dunno what's going on but that seems very strange.

It was deleted, of course. They do that all the time. I’ve seen entire four-year-old threads disappear between page loads.BONES wrote: Thu Jun 16, 2022 11:36 pm Last night I posted a question on teh Steinberg forum, and I know it went through because I edited out a coupleof typos after it published, but this morning there is no sign of it. Which I'd understand if I'd said it was a piece of shit or something but all I did was ask if it did a couple of specific things.
