I'm sure the Dev said something about this a while back in one of the Abyss deep dive videos. Abyss doesn't load samples but uses "tone colors" - I too thought Novum might be able to generate these in some future update, and you could then import them into Abyss to create your own "maps"?aMUSEd wrote: Sat Jun 18, 2022 9:35 pmYes I can do that with any synth, but I was thinking more that Abyss comes with built in spectral models but it seems to me Novum may have the potential to create additional spectral models and it would be great to be able to import those into Abyss to expand its spectral palette.

It’s an old tradition. My friend told me he saw Todd Rundgren at NAMM do a CMI Fairlight demo where he made music from the Nixon tapes.aMUSEd wrote: Sat Jun 18, 2022 8:48 pmLike it! - I made a whole granular piece from snippet of a GW Bush 'speech' about the Iraq war back in the day so look forwards to see what I can do with this

I downloaded the 90-day demo and started playing around with it. (I caught the dickens loading the soundbank in Cubase so I had to use Studio One). It's a great sounding synth, very creamy. Reminds me lots of Iris 2 and Padshop. I'd say Dawsome has themselves a winner.

It's a shame the layer ON/OFF buttons aren't available as a mod destination or midi mappable. There's a lot of nice stuff happening while you play and take out/add in more layers live.

You don't need to put the sample in a folder, you can move it or delete it, Novum is taking care.martiu wrote: Sat Jun 18, 2022 10:34 pm When you import sample in it and make your own patch, does it saves the patch with the sample or you need to put it in some folder?
Normally Novum decomposes the sample, and stores the information for each layer in a specific format. The patches just references these files. In this way patches can share the data.
If you want to transfer a few patches to a different computer you should activate "EMBED SAMPLES IN PATCH" from the main menu. However, this setting is not recommended for general use, as (many) DAWs are notoriously slow when loading bigger patch data, and you would use the benefit of sharing layer data between patches.
There is a specific function if you want to create and publish a pack fo Novum, its described in the User Guide.

There's a group buy code that's auto-applied. I really don't know how JRRshop can do this and others can't but I won't complain.charlesalbert wrote: Sun Jun 19, 2022 5:27 amSorry to be silly but what code?plexuss wrote: Sat Jun 18, 2022 11:56 pm I looked here and didnt see this mentioned: its about $90 USD @ JRR with code.
Beware that there's a wait for the code though because it needs to be generated manually.

Purchased after 10 minutes of demoing - once again really well done, Dawesome. I think the fully functional 90 day demo will get me through waiting for the licenses to arrive from JRR

The drag and drop does not seem to work in REAPER. I had to register the 'Basics' folder from within a standalone instance of Blue Cat Patchwork. The same thing goes for drag and drop of a sample - does not want to do it within REAPER.
Anybody else getting the same thing, or do I have some setting in REAPER I need to change?
