Cubase 12 released

Steinberg seem to have moved the goalposts for reselling Cubase 12 that was a free upgrade from version 11, by stipulating that you must send the USB e-licencer to the new purchaser when the version 12 license is transferred. Details are very sketchy on the Cubase forum, but this seems to be what they are now saying, I may be wrong, so please correct me if you know differently.
The problem with this of course is that some people may already have lost or thrown away the USB e-licenser thinking it was no longer needed, or it may be broken.

Yes, that is what I meant. I waited until the grace period started before I activated my update and got version 12.

Yes there is, and it works for people who bought version 12 outright when it was released.simmo75 wrote: Sun Jun 19, 2022 3:26 pm There’s a C12 reseller wizard on there site now, you follow it and then they send the seller a new license code, to give to the buyer.
But if you upgraded from a lower version to 12, different rules apply. The new bit seems to be that people who upgraded must now also send the old redundant USB e-licenser as well as do a digital transfer of version 12 which is on a soft e-licenser on the hard disk. In the past it was just required to post the USB e-licenser to the new purchaser as the license was on that alone.

I’m not sure that’s correct. I’ve emailed them for confirmation, as I’ve got a license for sale.dellboy wrote: Sun Jun 19, 2022 3:59 pmYes there is, and it works for people who bought version 12 outright when it was released.simmo75 wrote: Sun Jun 19, 2022 3:26 pm There’s a C12 reseller wizard on there site now, you follow it and then they send the seller a new license code, to give to the buyer.

When I bought and registered the upgrade, my eLicenser license was removed from my eLicener dongle, also, the new machine license doesn’t show that it’s an upgrade, it says Cubase 12 Pro.
I’ll reply here when I hear it from Steinberg themselves.

I may well be wrong, I am just trying to understand what is being said on the Cubase forum to people who are wanting to sell there upgraded Cubase 12 Pro. The only reason it came to my attention is because I updated the maintenance tool and the soft e-licencer is no longer showing Cubase 12 Pro even though it is still working fine.simmo75 wrote: Sun Jun 19, 2022 6:42 pm

Of course it's not in eLicenser, that's the whole idea of this new online licensing system.

Hmm... what you guys say is very confusing.
It's stated here that you keep the license that you upgraded from: https://helpcenter.steinberg.de/hc/en-u ... d-products

Why do I have two licenses now?
Steinberg Licensing is not backwards compatible. However, we wanted to preserve the option to use older product versions for compatibility reasons, as this has been a feature of the old eLicenser license management. Now, you can run for instance a Dorico 3.5 license using the eLicenser and a Dorico 4 license using Steinberg Licensing.

I upgraded from 11 & no longer have any Cubase licenses on my eLicenser dongle, just the new license format for 12.

It's confusing. Please let us know what the support is going to tell you. As I'm also thinking of selling my upgraded Cubase 12 Pro license.simmo75 wrote: Sun Jun 19, 2022 9:00 pmIt’s confusing, that’s why I’ve emailed them.chk071 wrote: Sun Jun 19, 2022 7:18 pm Hmm... what you guys say is very confusing.

Out of interest, is your 11 license still on your dongle?

Last time I checked (about a week ago), yes it was there with Groove Agent 5, but it said beside it, "upgraded to Cubase 12".
Using: Cubase Pro 15, Reason 13, Tascam US-4x4HR, MODX6, DM12D, LaunchKey 49, Yamaha guitar(Pacifica 612v) and bass (BB234) and some virtual instruments and synths.

Regarding the new Steinberg Licensing, I see a lot of products are now updated to support the new licensing, including Groove Agent 5.
Is there a way to register/migrate these products to the new Activation Manager? Can we even do it?
