Novum seems like it was designed with ambient artists in mind. I suppose if I was an audio-for-games designer, or horror movie director, it'd definitely come in handy for those genres, too.

Novum is sweet. I was inspired by it to create this ambient track last night.

I think that's referring to the demo... Intro price seems to be until July 1st I believe?

I'm really starting to develop a love hate relationship with this thing.. and I'm only a day into the demo.

The usability is so infuriating while the sound potential is massive! Novum is frustratingly cumbersome to use. I can see so many places where the usability could be drastically improved (empirically measured in amount of mouse clicks needed to do something) and this brings up the frustration levels.

There are also a few missed opportunities when it comes to the synthesis itself, considering the potential given by the layer system. Then again, I need to remind myself that this is a version 1.0.

I'll definitely purchase this to support possible further development. This thing is a bit rough right now but could become a real gem in the future.

Anybody else getting the same thing, or do I have some setting in REAPER I need to change?
Same here. No dice with Reaper.

maxPOS10.14 here, Reaper 6 current. drang and drop works for me both the BASIC folder and samples.

Here is a second variation of the previous track. Same notes but slightly edited patch with a faster attack and sustained strings. Just a tweeked version of the first patch.

Have you activated the 90 day demo (logged in) , I had to do that before it worked in Bitwig.

I guess it depends on how you use it, I agree there are workflow enhancements to be made. This thing is awesome for combining textures and pads though. I would like to see FM added like Abyss.

no issues in Reaper at all - latest version Reaper, win11. You do have to unlock/register the plugin for drag and drop to work

Obviously room for improvement (its V1), but I am loving it so far...so much innovation, layering 6 different samples and blending with 'granular' is such a lot of fun...its perfectly capable of making 'normal' lead and pad sounds (depends what you feed it) but it's capable of much more unique and leftfield stuff so why bother...I'll let other synths do the bread and butter stuff!

I see what you mean. adjusting parameters per layer needs a lot of mouse clicks, it's better to have another button to set all those orange icons on and off. Also it would be nicer if it's possible to adjust all parameters in the SYN section PER layer, now this is only possible for pitch and detune but synthify and the filters per layer would be a big improvement. Anyway this is an excellent synth, really love to play with this on the Roli Seaboard. Good job, well done!
