He really wants the world to know that he hates firewalls?

And that he might have been born in 1978.

But probably not.

Hang on. Is the OP FLS #3?

Says the guy who proposed that people who come here to ask questions need to be weeded out by the moderators.
I'm not here for attention
bwahahahaha. pull the other one.

I know that if I had made 30 thousand posts on a forum
you'd be boasting to us all about your 'stats', yeah we know.
how about looking at yourself in the mirror.
In the mirror, I see a guy who gave the OP information about his question.
That guy you see in your mirror is the sad little git who wants him restricted from asking it.

whyterabbyt wrote: Sat Jun 18, 2022 6:30 pm Stats dont reveal that most of the people responding to your threads are pointing out how inane they are.
The rest of the posts are you jerking yourself off.
But then sad little attention whores dont care what kind of attention they get, do you?

You have a pretty warped view of people you've never met in the world. I'm not here for attention, and never have been in the 21 years I've been using forums across a spectrum of areas from computer graphics to music and technology. I share my skills, knowledge and work on things I have developed and people benefit from it... and in return I learn new things and how to better what I do. I know how to engage people, and make people happy. I only post occasionally, but I know that if I had made 30 thousand posts on a forum, it would certainly impact me in a no so positive way, and lead me to think I'd have some sort of social dependency in always wanting attention...but I don't so rather than trying to accuse people of things, how about looking at yourself in the mirror.
They must be paying you to drive interactions or something. There's no way you're really like this.

Dear whyterabbyt, Saffran, BertKoor, legenCNCD, pixel85, thank you so much for your helpful responses. It's nice to be welcomed with so many responses :D Also great to see there's audio designers for games here as well.

I will gladly take all the advice, and try out Cakewalk and Reaper, and if the Simple Flute for Kontakt 4 (full) works in Kontakt 6 free edition. Tomorrow is my deadline for the audio assignments (with Ableton). Afterwards, if still interested in finding an old Kontakt 4, is that even possible? I need to decide wether I'd like to proceed with more audio work, and adjust by budget based on that. Many things are exciting in the video game industry..most notably audio, I've never had an ear for it working with video.

As far as instruments go, I've used the Cister from Soundbytes and Sonatina Flute (various sources). Any recommendations for maker-friendly sources for VST's are very welcome.

I'm currently in my final month of 5 months of Game Design. Before this, it's been mostly about Communication, Video, and Business Management. This part is the best so far. For the chapter "Game Assets" we are able to choose between micro-specializing in either Concept Art (drawing), Audio for Games (my pick), and 3D modelling/animation.

Username: glad it's allowed so far, let me know if I need to change it. :tu:

Getting older Native Instruments plugins is risky. I don't even remember how ancient is Kontakt 4 but I'm pretty sure that it still use oldactivation system/software which I think it's not working anymore. NI also completely stopped supporting some old plugins. So even if you get it somewhere second hand, you may not be able to activate it anymore. So pay attention for this.

Ps. for the secondhand audio software you can check marketplace section of KVR or knobcloud.com.

is there a specific reason you want to run an older version of Kontakt? You'd be much better off with a later one, ie if you can get K4, upgrade it when its cheap to do so. I think its safe to say most libraries out now there are for K5 or later, very many for K6.

Best time to do the upgrade is when NI do their annual sale; upgrades are usually 50% off

That sale is running now, the upgrade is currently £50 or so.

Cheapest other way to get it is crossgrade a Kontakt Player library ie one which has a serial number, including NI libraries and third-party libraries. Cost just now during the sale is about £110.
It has to be a Kontakt Player library, though, not just a Kontakt library.

It may still be possible to do that crossgrade from a free library, eg Arcane from Embertone. It used to be possible with the free Sennheiser Drummica drum library, though I think that one is now inelegible.

I wonder if you really need to spend out on Kontakt at this stage if you don't know how much you need it in future.
There are some very good free instruments around. I just found out about this the other day, which has a woodwinds instrument

I don't know how it compares to ixox or sonatina, depends what you need i guess.

Also I haven't checked through these but here's a list of flute stuff i stumbled across;

Thanks for sending both links! I tried the Orchestools but couldn't get it to work as a newbie. Now I understand I should download the samples as well. Will try it :)

The Kgrsstore link is new to me, awesome find. Thank you! Edit: I'll try to see how it works in Kontakt Player, I think I need to wait with purchasing the full one.

Thanks a lot, can't wait to try it. Today I spent much of the day getting the Anthology through Roland Cloud
