Look for my first plugin to be released soon: "Burning Unit" a unique distortion plugin in CLAP format only!
I look forward to trying it! Clap makes effects a lot easier especially when you need to do automation. If you need help with the dev hit me up but the demo explains most of it

Can I try some of your vst3 and au plugins today to get an idea what it might sound like? I love an interesting distortion on a pad so should be fun. Lemme know when you ship it!
I don't need any help with development, let me know if you need help catching jokes.
Oh it was a joke? That’s too bad. Well let me know if you ever do anything interesting. I would love to try it.

No, I'm not exaggerating at all. You are exaggerating my position and trying to use that as a way to dismiss it. That's a strawman.

Again, there's nothing to argue about here. I'm not going to suddenly say "oh, you're right, that's not going to cause confusion." That's not the case, overloaded and popular words can lead to confusion in search results.

You seem to be implying that this can't be reasoned through before you name a product? Nonsense! Of course it can and of course these are some of the things that you want to think about. Obviously I'm simply predicting the kinds of things that will be annoying. TBH, they're pretty easy to predict.
i stand by everything i said. this has already been named; if you don't like it, it's your problem, not the developers. and you can predict all you want; i will wait and see how things go in the real world; am confident people will be smart enough to sort out a VD from a VST (sorry, worthwhile pun!).

Why not vSTD?

I do apologise.

Well at least that wouldn't be a problem with Google. So, one problem down, one to go.

Sorry mate, anyone who thinks a plugin named "Burning Unit" is interesting isn't really on my radar. Thanks for all of your work on clap though, despite the terrible name, it's much appreciated.

I always wondered what those spots on your forum avatar were.

The people criticizing the CLAP name are right; the people defending it are wrong. Go CAPS - Clever Audio Plugin Standard - and enjoy having dodged a bullet.

Detriments to CLAP:
-It's an STD
-It's difficult to search
-If it refers to clap as in clapping hands then it's goofy, presumptious and hubris-y all at the same time

And CAPS?:
-CAPS for BOLD, LOUD AND IN CHARGE
-It's putting a CAPS in proprietary plugin formats' asses
-Not a sexually transmitted disease...YET

Go CAPS and never look back. No one wants to be associated with the CLAP!

So not a Zappa fan then? I’m surprised no one has thrown in joes garage

Anyway can we divert this thread back to people trying to learn about using clap?

I understand your point but the name is the name. As I pointed out in a different forum my clap code literally calls the c++ function std::get. Context matters a lot. While I hope your criticism is wrong, I think your point is pretty clear.

The highest form of knowledge is empathy, for it requires us to suspend our egos and live in another's world. It requires profound, purpose‐larger‐than‐the‐self kind of understanding.

I would perhaps have suggested APEX for "Audio Plugin Extensions" but I don't really mind the chosen name either  What really counts is that we are finally getting a (much better) replacement for VST2

APEX is cool, I'd go for that.

it already has a name. and, like most things, it's value will come from it's capabilities, it's functionality; the name will not make or break it. so (and am telling myself this as well), let's get back to discussing what this is, what we expect, what our questions are; you know, a discussion about the thing itself.

So "Polyphonic modulation" is one killer, unique feature of CLAP that instruments should be able to take advantage. Are there any features like that [over existing standards] for effects processors too?
