Yeah but the navigation is still based on lists and it costs as much as Atlas. I'm sure it also has more advanced features but I really only want something like XO for quickly browsing drum samples, not a full blown sample cataloguing solution.
Atlas 2 or XO?

xo has better acoustic on board samples
but atlas comes with better electornic samples
i think atlas 2 wins here , its easier to navigate and make beat fast
also you have random function that xo doesnt have

I just checked and found an XO update in the XLN online installer. Ran it, and there's a VST3 version now. Is that new? I honestly don't remember. Build number is version 1.5.

It is new.. thanks.. I have now idea when it was released though.
Not only that, they finally have a customized option so you can choose what formats you want to have installed (no more AU and AAX for me which I never need).

I had the same questions and asked Atlas Support about features and how it works with Ableton (like triggering the drum rack, which was important for any sequencer to me) and they confirmed that and added that Atlas 2 is working on more advanced features and a big update is in the works, tho no specific date can be given atm.
And since Atlas already supports more lanes and lenghts as XO (even if XO has a bit more fx on board, but hey, that's what the DAW is also for), this is where my money went and the drum-machine of my choice now. No regrets, it works nice and I'm happy for the new features to the sample management and sequencer (I don't like working in the piano roll for that, especially since piano rolls don't have randomize features for instant inspiration or fsu stuff)

I absolutely love using Atlas (in Bitwig). Don’t sleep on using the randomizations.

Actually that is the only way I have used it when I use it beyond testing.

I find randomise useful in many plugins, I wish they all had it!
