A tiny little feature request: The ability to audition the original sample somehow, post conversion into layers but without all the other synthesis stuff affecting it.
If possible, auditioning of the layers themselves, without all the synthesis happening. This would help in determining which layers to use for what.
Currently my workaround is to have two Novum instances loaded, one with a init patch where I can quickly do all the auditioning of the converted layers.. and one instance where I actually work on the sound design. Needless to say, this isn't optimal.

Aha that works, thanks.gondii wrote: Wed Jun 22, 2022 4:02 pm I think you can copy it anywhere on your hard drive and then drag and drop the BASICS Folder into Novum.

This. Please. Perhaps using a special version of the Init patch that is set to play back the raw content of the dropped sample. This way it would be easier to hear (and understand) what each of the tools in Novum is actually doing.bmanic wrote: Wed Jun 22, 2022 6:04 pm A tiny little feature request: The ability to audition the original sample somehow, post conversion into layers but without all the other synthesis stuff affecting it.

Novum 1.02 vs Novum 1.0BeeDog wrote: Wed Jun 22, 2022 7:59 pm @PetVor: are there any release notes for the new 1.0.2 version?

* FIX: there were issues with some OpenGL drivers under WIN that could lead to the plugin crashing when opening multiple UIs at the same time
* FIX: there could be potential issues when processing the layer information while loading a patch
* FIX: correct typos in the tooltips (thank you Jon!)
* NEW: you can now use right-click (or shift-click) to solo a layer
* NEW: there is now entry "REGISTER CONTENT PACK ... " in the main menu
* NEW: the FX delay time in ms is displayed when moving the TIME slider
* NEW: speed up of loading a patch (especially on older machines, roughly x2)

Oh, yes, that would be handy, I like this idea!syncline wrote: Wed Jun 22, 2022 7:06 pmThis. Please. What do you think of this:
* shift-click on the timbre dot will replay the layer in its original speed and pitch
* w/o SYN, w/o FX, w/o grains (just normal playback) and w/o START/L1/L2
* but will take into account the timbre flower, the envelope and the "HOMOGENIZED" state
Basically: "what you see is what you hear"

That would be perfect! This would make it easy to mangle each of the six layers, beginning with the original sound. Then we'd have the ability to only slightly alter things or go totally crazy, with a clear path to explore in between. I was getting lost trying to get closer to the sound or feel of the original sample, so this would be great, especially for things like drum loops or phrases.PetVor wrote: Wed Jun 22, 2022 8:44 pm What do you think of this:

Question: would the shift-click on timbre work for all six layers if they are locked?
Thank you for considering!

Is there a proper location for the content pack? If I move it from my Downloads folder (MacOS) the preset disappear from the VST and I get the Please Install Content Pack notice.
Feature request: Somewhere to see or a link to the path of the original sample/samples would be really handy.
Amazing synth, thanks, Peter. I've already had one track almost write itself.

I just put it on one of my SSD drives, then dragged it onto the plugin GUI from there.fireapplered wrote: Wed Jun 22, 2022 9:19 pm Is there a proper location for the content pack? Since we are doing feature requests, here is what I would love.
I know in the SYN page there are tuning slides that can be linked to all layers, but what I would love is a global tune and fine tune somewhere central like next to the master volume slider.
I know some of the factory patches are atonal but some of them seem like I can nudge them a few cents and make them in tune to the rest of the instruments I may use on a project.
thanks

You can put the content pack whereever you want, just please don't put it into the User Patches directory. It should be SSD, and it should not have restrictive access permission. I suggest to make a subfolder NovumPacks in the location where you store your samples and then put the BASICS folder there.fireapplered wrote: Wed Jun 22, 2022 9:19 pm Is there a proper location for the content pack? Initially I had the path of the original sample embedded in the patch. But the feedback of the early access users was against this - because in this way it will also be visible to other people using your patch, and the filepath often contains sensible information like your user name, recording locations, etc. This is the reason why I removed this.
