Speculation might be pointless, but, er, might not. So the M2 Air is available soon, and performance looks a bit better than the M1, but the big gains are in the graphics department.
A similar improvement in the Pro machines (excluding the 13 inch which is gimped) would be a worthy step up, but if prices rise as they have with the Air then buying a current M1 Pro might still be a decent decision. Supposedly an M2 mini will be coming out soonish, and many thought it would be announced at this WWDC.
However, chip shortages could mean that the Pro machines might not see upgrades for a long time... how the F can one make purchasing decisions in the current environment? Particularly given that inflation is so high, it might be the case that new versions end up costing a chunk more.

The new 13" Pro, which appears to be an excuse for Apple to use up spare parts, seems to be a downgrade in certain respects from the M1 version. SSD performance is worse, and thermal control looks odd. If the performance gains are coming from increased power usage, I wonder how this would translate to the 14 and 16" models.
