afaik these dealies can be replaced with a 50k resistor so ?? could build one with a photocell sensor or someting if none to be found.
anyone ever used the 'proper' ones? do they have like, 2 levels of responsivity or are they worth tracking down?

When I got my DX-7 the bloke wanted me to get one of these controllers as well, saying how expressive they were and all. I was really glad I put off going for one...because about a week later I was at a gig where the keyboard player was huffing away on a breath controller on his solo break. I looked round and I thought, no way would I shove one of those jobbies in *my* mouth in front of all these ladies.xoxos wrote:afaik these dealies can be replaced with a 50k resistor so ?? could build one with a photocell sensor or someting if none to be found.

I've helped building the one a kinda famous guitarist uses. That one is kinda on steroids though, it's a joystick with a breath controller attached to it and a highly flexible custombuilt effect unit. I was also part of building a midi version with just the controller + a midi controller box connected to it and a midi out on the box. Very funny to use on a Nord Modular.
