Just updated my Wavelab Elements 11 accordingly. I got an email from Steinberg, saying that I can update to Wavelab (Elements) 11.1, which is using Steinberg Licensing. Clicking on the link, I got a coupon code which I could use in the Steinberg Download Assistant. Using that Download Access Code opened the eLicenser software where I could upgrade my Wavelab Elements 11 eLicenser license to a Steinberg Licensing license. Worked Ok, and now I have a Wavelab Elements Steinberg Licensing license.
Don't trash your USB e-Licensers just yet...

... you'll need them for your eLicenser products potentially being updated to work with Steinberg Licensing.

I won't trash it! It's a souvenir from the past life
Using: Cubase Pro 15, Reason 13, Tascam US-4x4HR, MODX6, DM12D, LaunchKey 49, Yamaha guitar(Pacifica 612v) and bass (BB234) and some virtual instruments and synths.

Yeah I'd hang onto it just in case. If you happen to run across any old projects you haven't converted yet, you'll need the dongle to run SX3 to convert them. I just bought Wavelab Pro yesterday while it was on sale and everything goes right to the new activation system now, didn't need the dongle at all. I wonder if they'll eventually put out an update for 11 and migrate it so they can finally shut off the eLicenser servers once and for all.

I just updated to 11.1 and now it says I don't have a licence even though I can see it on my USB Dongle. Wtf?

Says here 'you can continue using your old license as before:

So why isn't it recognising it now?

Should work, unless you already initiated the upgrade to a Steinberg Licensing license (the eLicenser license shows a "Upgraded to Steinberg Licensing" then).
If it doesn't, I'd shoot Steinberg a message.

No I haven't - not interested, was trying to avoid complications (ironically)

The license on the e-licenser is taken off, and replaced with a NFR "not for resale" version, this needs to happen to complete the process.
So you could only pass the voucher code on to someone who has the old version on their e-licenser, but they've probably got a voucher code already - so a bit pointless.
You could physically sell the full version you redeem on Steinberg Licensing and carry on using the older version on your e-licenser. But I think this goes against licensing agreement:
"eLicenser-based licenses that have been upgraded to a Steinberg Licensing license may not be sold separately from the corresponding Steinberg Licensing license."
It would be the reversal of that statement as you would be selling the Steinberg Licensed item. But I guess the rule still applies (?!).

But I could keep the dongle for one computer and authorize a different one? Until now I had to carry a dongle if I wanted to work abroad on a laptop…

Yes, but when you get C12, you can use it on two computers, so no need to keep elicenser on any of them. Just install C12 on both.Tj Shredder wrote: Mon Jun 27, 2022 1:13 pm But I could keep the dongle for one computer and authorize a different one? I still keep C11 and elicenser on a desktop just because some HALion libraries need it and just in case if C12 would become buggy for some reason. I always keep previous version of Cubase as a backup.

For clarity, you can actually have the new licensing activated on three machines at once (per license).pixel85 wrote: Tue Jun 28, 2022 6:17 am Yes, but when you get C12, you can use it on two computers, so no need to keep elicenser on any of them. Just install C12 on both.
