What's the process? Do I keep my trial installation (currently in demo mode) and just download the splice app to authenticate it? Does it retain settings etc?

Post

Of course it retains everything including the app, if you got an older demo just download the newest. Its only the authorization which is different…

Bitwig saves it´s settings in a seperate folder...so when you uninstall the older version everything will be save...

I have the splice rent to own running... in your situation I would:
- uninstall the older version
- download and install the Splice app
- In the Splice app install Bitwig (after having chosen to rent to own it)
- The next start of Bitwig you normally should be able to authorize it (Splice app has to be running in Background)...
...that´s it...

EDIT and Important: When rent to own you don´t have access to new betas etc from your Bitwig account... you have to enable in Bitwigs settings the option to be notified about early access versions!

i'm using the bitwig splice rent to own and just saw the upgrade from 4.2.5 to 4.3 is not available to me now, there were a few upgrades available while i was using bitwig/splice, but not now it's gone to 4.3. i already saw the betas weren't available, but i had hoped new updates would be included, maybe i was hoping for too much, if anyone knows if i can upgrade to 4.3 on the splice system, let me know

i downloaded 4.3 from the bitwig website, installed it and it activated ok so i'm happy it carries on updating while i'm buying it through splice

Thank you all for your replies. Seems painless enough.

4.3 is indeed available on your account even if you're on the Splice rent-to-own plan. You can download and install manually and it should work just fine (does for me). It will probably show up on the splice app as well, till they update their servers with the updated Bitwig installer. PS: Beta versions are not available for rent-to-own users and you need to have a fully paid license in order to test the beta versions.

Nonsense... they just do not appear in the Bitwig account but if you activate to get informed about early access versions in Bitwig directly you can download them directly from the app, install and use them as if you had a "normal" license.

I haven't tried this, I contacted Bitwig customer support via email as I couldn't find a download option/link for the beta, and they told me that beta versions are only available for fully paid licenses.

I have used the betas of 4.3 with the splice license and it worked flawlessly the way I described...

Just turn on the option that you want to get informed about early access versions and you can download the betas from within Bitwig...

It´s just that you cannot download them from your Bitwig account as you are not "registered" as a normal license holder until you have finished the rent to own plan...
