Monark is seriously impressive.

I prefer the raw sound of Monark a bit, but Legend has a different (better?) overdrive sound. Monark's feedback can get pretty harsh. Also polyphony and lower cpu and no reaktor.

But I really love the Monark and blocks oscillators. Probably my favorite non-sampled analog style oscs out there.

Exactly.. i bought it to do leads and bass. Legend poly is of limited interest to me. Monark was my go to till softube model 72.
Monarks parameter values are very unlike the real mm so a photo of the gui patches only gets u so far.

Only because if it did it would have eaten your wallet alive back in the day.

Well that's another thing to consider when deciding whether to purchase Monark or The Legend. Polyphony and CPU demand which is not an issue with The Legend even at 8 voice polyphony. Well that and The Legend doesn't require Reaktor and Native Access to work...... :P

Poly or not, Legend just sounds better to me. When you go mono on the Legend its still better than Monark IMHO.

And it's not NI :hihi:

If you have Reaktor, I recommend this Moog ensemble: https://www.native-instruments.com/en/r ... show/7777/

UI is a bit small but the sounds is very impressive!

I personally feel like none of the Minimoog emu's do a great overdrive/feedback sound compared to the hardware but they're otherwise pretty excellent across the board (Legend, Monark, Diva, Softube, Berhringer).

Does that include the Behringer? It's hardware, and a direct clone after all.

It's also difficult to compare. I'm pretty sure the overdrive/feedback sounds different on any Minimoog you will play.

Unlike all other Minimoog VSTs Monark has a setting for glide mode. It may be set to free running or gated.

Gated means if you have a sound with long release the glide is stopping when the key is released. In free running mode the glide continous.

So, I'm curious how the original hardware was gliding.

That's an interesting detail. I just tested it in The Legend…the glide continues after releasing the key. Seems likely that's how the actual hardware works. I don't see the use case for gated mode, and would always want the glide to continue until it reaches its destination. Went through a bunch of Monark patches and almost all of them use free run, and the only ones I found that use gated mode don't have any audible glide anyway. Curious.

Indeed Legend has free glide while Miniverse is using gated glide.

The original used free glide only, just FYI.

I think The Legend sounds more like the real moog, but Monark on its own sounds awesome that justifies reason to have it. I only wish it was a vst and resizable.

Each one of these emulations are based on their own models, and no two models sounded exactly the same. I still think the UAD minimoog and Legend are killer.
