I'm not necessarily 100% against software subscriptions in theory. In practice I've never been tempted to get one (for plugins), and I probably never will be

I do have a $4/month anti-robocall app for my phone (which only kind of works), and a $1/month blog spam filter (which works very well).

Question to all of you: Does the Bitwig plan count? I have to renew (if I want to use 4.3) and think it is kind of a sub after all. (To be fair, I like the product very much, love the things they are constantly adding, and have no regrets at all.) This would be my second update purchase ... sub

I don't count it as a subscription. If you let it expire, you can keep using the version you have. A lot of people will do that, then renew when there's a new version with features they're especially interested in.

I've been keeping mine active since I got it and I have no regrets; some of those smaller updates have been gold IMHO.
