It's possible to download it even if you're not a subscriber, but I don't recommend it. The one thing NA1 really needed was an uninstall feature. Instead of adding that, they just made the grid and list views waste more space (an unfortunate trend in UX design) so you can't see as many items at once and have to do a lot more scrolling. All the release notes are also blank if you're not a subscriber (probably why they haven't released it to everyone yet).

As the new version has no real improvements, I went back to NA1, but NA2 somehow messed up the ability to stay logged in, so now I have to manually log in every time I open NA1.

It runs quite nicely now.
Only if you run your DAW with Rosetta. When running it natively and using Apple‘s AU compability service for x86 plugins, you’ll get hanging notes unfortunately. At least that happens with Live 11.
Don't have this problem in Bitwig, plugin sandboxing for the win! :D

Actually NA2 has thankfully added categories to a header area that is a great improvement.

No longer do you have to wade through tons of Expansions to see what the heck is going on with other products.

So even if Massive X were released as Apple Silicon native, I wouldn't be able to install it without Rosetta unless I were a Komplete Now subscriber.

Native Access 2 is a new administration tool for product activation, installation, and updates for all your Native Instruments products. It is currently only available to KOMPLETE NOW subscribers, but will eventually be made available to all of our users.
I actually thought it would still be in beta, as they offered it to select people for beta testing a while ago.

I reported it on NI community along with a couple other suggestions and it was acknowledged by a NI support guy and he has passed on the feedback to the team. So, hopefully in the next update.
I can't believe they're still so retarded in 2022, this is exactly the kind of thing that kills my workflow. I think I'll pass until the next update then. Can't believe it still takes NI 3 to 5 years to fix a synth correctly.

At least someone wrote earlier they fixed the fact that if you close the window and open it again, the preset is gone. Unbelievable lol
Which version was the last one you tried? Because, they did change a bit about the GUI (parameter value read outs, new skins, control sensitivity for the knobs etc.).

Seriously? You pass because you can't double click presets?

Well, probably better that way then, if such nullities annoy you.
Yes, I'm a spoilt brat and self-entitled millennial, and this has been very annoying.

Glad you guys said it's changed now, I'm gonna try the very latest version right away.

That’s amazing and seems to work. Thank you!
Oh yeah I forgot that one lol. someone on Reddit replied to me last month I should be using shutthefuckup.axmd in front of it to make the fckng stuck note STOP!!!

Can't believe NI is not doing quality control, like wtf this is such a basic feature

But I'm gonna stop complaining now, if not the grumpy person from earlier is gonna be unhappy again haha

When will what be released??

Native Access 2.

It has been answered on the last page though. It already has been released, for Komplete Now customers only, and, it will land with non Komplete Now customers at some point as well.

FWIW, I have been using Native Access 2 for a couple of months now and I am not subscribed to Komplete Now. Works fine and looks cool. It's a soft release from what I understood from NI forums. It's already on version 2.0.6, at least here.

In case you want to try: https://www.native-instruments.com/en/s ... -access-2/

Nice, thanks for the link.

What exactly is a "soft release"? And, where did you get the link to that page? :) I don't find it anywhere on NI's website, and, the Native Access 2 FAQ says it's only available for Komplete Now users.

Post

You're welcome.

I think soft release just means it is not formally announced/released yet and they are verifying/testing its working and stability. An analogy could be "unlisted videos" on YouTube. That's my understanding anyway. I accidently landed on that link about 2-3 months ago, don't remember how exactly. :)

Thought to myself: well...f* it! and installed it. seems to be fine. And finally a distinction between packs and instruments. very welcome addition.

I was asked if I want to participate in beta testing on NI's forums a few months ago, because I posted in a Native Access thread once. But, I passed because I only want to use stable software, especially when installing the NI plugins. Would be bad if I ended up not being able to install them or anything, especially as it looks like NA 2 will replace NA 1 on Windows computers.

If it's just a matter of time until it comes for every NA 1 user, I'll just wait for it.

Post

Yes, NA 2 does replace NA 1 on Windows computers. I was a bit afraid initially, but then it turned out to be a smooth upgrade. Things have been normal ever since I installed NA 2. As sQeetz mentions above, the improved categorization is indeed a very nice feature. The overlook is also great IMO.

I just noticed that up until yesterday the icon of NA 2 was purple colour, which probably indicated that it's not a formally released version. Today, it has surprisingly become the same old blue colour like NA 1 and also on app title bar it just says Native Access. So I feel that NA 2 formal release is around the corner. Perhaps next week. :tu:

That's true. I forgot about the categories. That's the one improvement they made.

However, I still think it's significantly worse than NA1 in almost every way. In list view, product names are truncated unless I make the window almost 1600px wide, which leaves a ridiculous amount of empty space (over 400px) between the size and Install buttons. The whole app is slow too. It takes forever to launch (seriously…like over 30 seconds…way longer than any other software I use), and everything is sluggish, like switching between tabs, changing views, or even just accessing the release notes for a product. It has a "Renderer" process that constantly uses 18% CPU while doing absolutely nothing.

Feels like a crappy web app made by people who don't know what they're doing, because that's what it is (it's an Electron app, and not a very good one). I honestly don't know how they even managed to make such a simple app so slow.
