Hello robert. First of all thank you for taking your time to respond to some of the grumpy folks here.
I like the PS-20 a lot but there is one simple improvement I feel would make a huge difference. Is it possible to make the black blacker and the white whiter and bolder on the UI... or just anything to make the the labels more readable. I know it's a big interface to fit on one screen but im sure you will figure it out

Great suggestions for both PS-20 and possibly some other synths as well. I will happily pass these on, and thanks for the feedback.HOTF wrote: Thu Jun 30, 2022 5:05 pm I like the PS-20 a lot but there is one simple improvement I feel would make a huge difference. I know it's a big interface to fit on one screen but im sure you will figure it out. Also a nice addition would be to be able to pull out the table that explains all the ins and outs of the panel directly for the synth... maybe a help buton or something. You did a really good job with this summary table in the documentation but it's a shame I need to open my browser when i forget what something does.

I like the sound of their plugins. Here is a Dreamsynth string/synth patch I made and the second example uses 3 Memorymode patches I created in a short demo I made:

I contacted Arturia support about this, and they said I need an old dongle which I don't have and won't bother sourcing. Maybe I've misunderstood something and should contact them again? If I can get access to V2 Jupiter-8 that would be AWESOME.zerocrossing wrote: Thu Jun 30, 2022 2:18 pm
By the time Jupiter 8 (now Jup-8) came about, their quality had bumped up a bit I think if you bought the old plugins, you can still download and use them, if memory serves. I see them in the Arturia Software app… I think. I did use it a lot, because I liked what I could do with the Galaxy Modulator, which they sadly removed from Jup-8. I wish they’d add that back in.

For a hobbyist just starting out I think it would be hard not to recommend Cherry Audio, especially since they have started to add good cheap effects to their synth line up. I have spent way too much seeking sound “quality” in plugins when I should have been looking to develop compositional skill.

and all violins better be Stradivarius!!!zerocrossing wrote: Thu Jun 30, 2022 2:28 pmSure, this is true. My mom loves Taster’s Choice instant coffee and buys a bunch of McDonalds hamburgers when she has a coupon, and freezes them to eat later. I once took her to a hand crafted ice cream shop and she remarked that the mint in her mint-chocolate-chip ice cream tasted “too real.”wwjd wrote: Thu Jun 30, 2022 2:02 pm I've never had a TONE or a SOUND affect my ability to craft an interesting and listenable song. Everyone is different.
They most definitely do not sound great, but enjoy whatever you want. It’s no surprise there’s so many McDonald’s in the world. The question was “why do people hate on Cherry Audio?” I’d say hate is too strong a term, but for me it’s more like disregard. My personal opinion is that they should take a break from the fire hose of plugin releases and spend time going back and actually making their plugins sound good. I’d be the first in line if they could get their stuff to sound as good as Softube’s stuff. They're still a lot of funa nd sound great.
McDonalds thrives because they spend billions determining what flavor the most people really like, and delivering. Enjoy whatever you want negates anything being bad or good, if you like it you like it, and there's nothing wrong with that.
I can make the same musical chords with softube or cherry and no one would care.
I've been having more FUN playing music Cherry than my complete $1000 collection of arturia.
Everyone is allowed to be different.

That is both surprising and highly respectable.rsaintjohn wrote: Thu Jun 30, 2022 4:22 pmIf you're implying that we pay for reviews, you're mistaken. We don't even buy digital or print ads with publications, or participate in their promotional spotlights. I am very stingy about such things.

If a synth software sounds good and you personally like it, what does it even matter if other people don’t like it? Other peoples opinions will never influence me on what I buy. There’s too many condescending know it all assholes on here and everywhere
I wonder what happens if I press this button...

Sharing opinions is what forums like KVR are all about and it can be very useful as Cherry’s director of marketing pointed out several posts ago. It only gets painful when posters adopt a tone that implies that their opinion is the right one and everyone with a different opinion is intellectually inferior.

If you did a filter mod using an audio rate oscillator, you would absolutely be able to tell.kingtubby wrote: Thu Jun 30, 2022 2:38 pmVoltage Modular is fixed at 48k, however I believe it is possible that individual modules can be internally over-sampled.zerocrossing wrote: Thu Jun 30, 2022 2:31 pm Good question. I don’t know, but I do know that I have to run VCV at 4X oversampling to get the quality that I’m after, and I don’t remember Voltage Modular having that option.
I've no idea whether that applies to the Vult modules though, and I doubt my aging ears could tell the difference anyway
