HOTF wrote: Thu Jun 30, 2022 10:53 pm I am also not a fan of the galaxy background but the knobs are just circles who cares if the look realistic if they function just as well. I am not saying the plugin looks good im just saying it looks very functionnal and easy to navigate and ultimately that is the only thing that matters.
No, the only thing that matters is how it sounds. Everything else is secondary. But if I have two plugins to choose from that sound equally good I'm going to pick the one I enjoy looking at and not one that is an eyesore to me.
This situation has never occurred with me and I have like a thousand plugins. I've never looked at my plugin folder and thought "hmmm, these 2 plugins sound equivalent for the task, I'll randomly choose the one that looks cooler". I just choose whichever plugin I think will be functionally better for the task. This seems like a scenario made up for forum arguments.

Bro it's litterally ten big knob how bad can it be... seems perfectly functional :!: :?:
It's incredibly ugly. It looks exceedingly amateurish.

Speaking of terrible GUI's...

Post

the GUI for airwindows stuff is exactly as terrible as your DAW.

When I first installed the Demo, it said "Minimode will now run in Demo mode".

Somebody forgot to change a variable name in some boilerplate.

Post

Not cool to have the same name as airwindows for the same kind of effect.

I think most DAW devs are under the impression that plugin devs will design their own proper GUIs because it's their job and all.

More than a year ago… This one you have to rename. I didn’t get why Monomode bothered Moog…
For finding an name you can easily check if it exists in the galaxy…

So after some demoing:

Pros -- It creates a VERY unique space, it doesn't sound like any of my other reverbs. When you turn the modulation down, it sounds kinda bad? When you add some modulation and/or increase the dampening it sounds real nice. It kinda sounds like if you crossed Baby Audio Crystalline with the reverb algo in Massive and then made it darker and more elusive. Very useful for synth stuff

Cons -- I think with low/no modulation there's some energy in the tail's midrange frequencies that is bothering me. If I put a parametric EQ before the reverb and attenuate around 2.4khz by about 2.75db with a Q of 1.0 it sounds better to me. With modulation though I don't need to EQ the signal first. So it seems like it's not super flexible like some other (usually more expensive) reverbs.

Verdict -- Because of it's not super versatile, it is more of a "does one thing well" type of plugin. I've bought WAY more expensive "do one thing well" plugins in the past that I'm more than happy with. A good buy, especially at this price, but with the caveat that it shouldn't be anyone's only good reverb.

To be honest, I have never heard of Airwindows. "Galactic" is pretty common word. Like, windows for example :D

Maybe they will use the full name : Cherry Audio Galactic Reverb? Or change it. I don't know. How about Galactic Air reverb? Ok, I'll stop now.

Cherryatric Reverb?

Beauty's truly in the eyes of the beholder. I dont see how people can really like how Valhalla DSP looks but dislike Galactic?
