I thought I'd dl Orion Pro while waiting for my OP to arrive in the post

However it doesn't appear to have many presets - Wasp has about a dozen and some like Monobass and Plucked String have none. I had a look on Patcharena but it only has 3 banks - I'd really like to see what Wasp is capable of and as for Plucked String - it sounds nice but I'd like to try some more presets for that too - anyone got any?

btw - also does anyone know if there's a way of managing plugins? - all the DX plugins are in one long list and there's no differentiation even between instruments and effects. TBH I rarely use DX anyway and I think they tend to make hosts unstable so being able to turn them off altogether would be a nice option.

and if orion centre is still going there should be some on there

No way of de-activating the DXI that I know of. My solution is to not use any..

to be honest the plucked string is a bit naff,even the platnum version with presets only has a few usable bass ones.

as for the rest tho,you get enough

i have a file somewhere too,ill dig it out it was one where someone had opened up 10 or so diff monobasses and just knocked up a few patterns n presets

some ok ones.but anyway youll probably forget about the monobass when you see screamer

agree with vurt here
IMO if monobass and plucked we're to disappear from the drop-down menu they would not be missed.

the ultran is what makes platinum worth the price of admission
it comes with plenty of presets
and then there's the genetics function to play with

Johannes has a Wasp banks with about 250 presets in it at orioncentre. ufo and conterfiet also have some nice ones inc. some Wavefusion ones.

Be sure to get Krims drumrack stuff and sampler osp's from his site.

Yeah - I remember griping about it back when I last tried a demo now I recall - version 3 I think now. It's a bit annoying (but as I've said before, so is the sequencing)

Well if you can tell me a way to just freely record what I play without it repeating back at me at some point then maybe I'll take it back. Even 999 isn't long enough.

How? You can't even set it directly by typing into the keyboard - you have to scroll everytime. It would be better if you could just turn off limits like you can in EXT. I find it very disruptive of my creativity to be noodling away and suddenly hit this wall and then find myself overdubbing what I've just played.

well the sequencer goes past 999, it just only shows 999 on the length.. rich needs to add another digit place me thinks.. try it.. put a 9999, you'll get 9999 steps. any more than 9999 steps and you have a problem (thats ~20 mins at 125 bpm but Orion actually maxes out at 10000

)

anyways.. you said sequencing was bad.. but now you are talking about recording.. which is it?

a major point of orion is its pattern based approach.. you're trying to get squeeze an orange for apple juice..
