Bitwig Studio 4.3 Released!

i am waiting, a personal opinion, or waiting, hoping for more Bitwig like stuff....

For me it´s the other way round...

I find there is already too much Bitwig like stuff and am hoping for more workflow helpers like
- ARA or some in house developed Melodyne kind of solution
- Slicing in the Sampler
- Audio to midi options in general
- Scale highlighting
- something like Abletons Groove Pool
- Unison modes on Oscillators directly instead of this silly Swarm Osc...
- As they have brought in the Beat Warp mode from Ableton and copied the loop modes why on earth didn´t they brought in the envelope which is probably the most used element of Abletons Beat mode
- you name it...

Different people...different needs...

Doesn't address your other comments, (I too want ARA) but oscillator unison has a solution now

The Wavetable Osc also has some useful controls for phase distribution and detune to fine tune the unison sound.

i would like to see, simple, more experimental stuff. well the Note Grid. ok. the 16 channel modulator, isn't available in 4.0.8, is great for... well you know.. is something i really want to use..

so simple: more Poly Grid modules; they have great Phazor modules. why not also granular, spectral. etc. the full monty...

I find Channel-16 quite useful. For example, makes it easy to add a modulator (say an LFO) and have that LFO only affect specific notes in a midi clip.

In 4.3, there is the new Union Osc and Low-Pass MG filter. They may not look like much on paper, but they sound good! The Union Osc modulates well, including Osc Sync and FM.

I wish all the synths and effects could be scalable. Right now is a mess. So many buttons in a tiny space.

Did you get all the 3.x versions in this license window?

If you open 4.3 and 4.2 you should be able to copy it back quite easily. Should never do too much work in a beta though.

Was there something specific in 4.3 you wanted for your template?

Bitwig is already very scalable, but that scales everything...I guess what you are asking for is the 'rack' to have separate scaling to the rest of the DAW?

you are quite right, a DAW serves for myriad of users.

ARA would indeed be great, SpectraLayers....

DeepAudio would be a better companion in my view, than Melodyne, but their ARA integration, well it isn't really an ARA integration, hope they will improve it. must try it better, if it can really function. but isn't at the Melodyne or SpectraLayers level.

well indeed, no DAW is perfect, although all DAW's can be used in a great way.

(and indeed, slicing, envelopes/beat... but if i want that i can use...)

i think i will activate my plan earlier than i thought, will wait, because enough projects...

yes, because i don't have it, i did not thought about this; what you say about the channel-16, someone else, other forum, uses it it another way (which is a great about modulators of course, well i modulate a lot, but mostly in soft modulars... and quite extensive, and feedbacks... o well..), it is a great modulator.

the Union, the name rings a bell, i didn't inspect this new Polymer synth, or is it called something else, it is built from the Poly Grid. i assume. there are nice extension already to the Poly Grid, although small..

i think you mean indeed only the device lane. it is the same in.... Live.....

for both DAW's for me it also sometimes a PITA, some devices are very cluttered.

Yes. Or to have them detached when needed. Or any other way to make this happened.

Some of the rack devices already go full screen (normally for larger visual displays) and you also have the inspector view which can be a bit bless cluttered...I am on a 32inch monitor so its not so bad, but things do get pretty small on a laptop unless you scale up and then there isn't a lot of timeline space....but this is the same with pretty much all DAWS with racks rather than pop up windows....

That's the only feature I am currently really missing from Bitwig since running Melodyne as a VST is a real nightmare.

Won't "Voice Stacking" do the trick for you?

Ditto, this is the last big feature that's missing, the other stuff can just be gradually improved (piano roll etc), but pitch correction is 'missing' for those of us that predominantly work with audio.

No, just 4.3 Beta 7. But I still have all the old installers back to Beta 1.

Not sure, what you exactly mean. Like opening 2 instances, one for 4.2, one for 4.3 and then do copy paste? This wouldn't work, because I can open just one instance of Bitwig. Yeah quite silly from me. Started this with Beta 1 and thought release versions will be reached till run-out of old plan. And I did not know, that Beta Versions expire then.

No, not at all, no fancy stuff from Bitwig, just Track and Clips with 3rd party instruments and Fx.
