At least we got another 5 entries which should help make the competition more interesting.

I finished something! I decided not to use any external effects like reverb and delay to capture the true sound of the synth this time. Brings back memories for me for old PC with the Soundblaster card
Details are on the SC page:
https://soundcloud.com/ranoka/ranoka-os ... al_sharing
[Edit]
Details added here by popular demand...

15x ADLplug 18x OPNplug The several second lag which occurs after a few instances of the synths are loaded into reaper is an outstanding feature that:
• reduces ear fatigue
• prioritizes prioritization
• emphasizes simplicity / minimalist production aesthetics
The mysterious desynchronization from the automatable parameters in reaper is an excellent feature that promotes:
• recording the performance of automation directly to audio (when not in the osc)
• rapid completion of projects due to the ever looming potential that it the state won’t fully be saved and that any crash could cause complete project loss
• simplicity / minimalist production aesthetics, for the above reason

Hey, yeah - my details are on the SC page like I mentioned in the postBrainBeatMusic wrote: ↑Fri Jul 01, 2022 2:13 am What are the details of your work? synth instances etc?
(it has less clutter on this page, and people can read the details while they listen to the music in context rather than having to reference to forum post)

We should agree that details have to be put into the announcement post on kvr... they can be copied to sc either, no problem.Ranoka wrote: ↑Fri Jul 01, 2022 8:46 amHey, yeah - my details are on the SC page like I mentioned in the postBrainBeatMusic wrote: ↑Fri Jul 01, 2022 2:13 am What are the details of your work? synth instances etc?

I agree Peter. I tend to put the technical details on KVR - and leave the Soundcloud post for more artistic descriptions.] Peter:H [ wrote: ↑Fri Jul 01, 2022 11:13 am

Quick production note:
To generate reverb, I opted not to use external impulse response files, which have been used many times in the osc, usually in the context of amplifier cabinet simulation.
I've gained a deeper awareness of amplifier simulation technology because I also make point-to-point handwired tube amplifiers, speaker cabinets, and misc hardware that's digitally emulated.
IRs are a brilliant sound design tool.
Instead, I generated the reverb inside ReaVerb, because I finally learned that it can be stretched and shortened within ReaVerb to reduce the inharmonic nature of it.

Well, Peter:H, that really puts a damper on things.] Peter:H [ wrote: ↑Fri Jul 01, 2022 11:01 amI'm afraid the rule is "Use one or the other, but not both".
My apologies for misunderstanding this.
I would greatly appreciate it if the rules clearly stated the rules.
The rules appear to say that this month's competition is using extremely similar "synths," plural.
If we're here to maximize synthesis, and we would prudently play both provided synthesizers, it seemed natural that we would use both, rather than throw away our experiments with the extremely similar other plugin in the bundle provided.
Do you remember doing a OSC where we could use both of the simple FM synths?
Regardless, I made this song mostly to honor Dave Smith who just passed, and is one of the original fathers of synthesizers and midi.
So I've accomplished that.
Thank you for listening.
