You can put them in Plugin Doctor to see they are doing "something" it's just that something isn't perceivable for yourself (I don't always hear a difference either to be fair but I wouldn't say it's doing nothing at all)
I recommend this test for anyone sceptical about Acustica tech. Try using a combination of various "LINE" and "MIC" preamps from, for example, Blond, all over your mix (every channel). Gainstage as normal -18dB into them but don't change the volume coming out of them. Then export one version with them all turned on, and export a version with them all turned off.

Load the exports into a good A/B comparison tool like Mastering the Mix 'Expose', close your eyes, hold the down arrow key for a few seconds to auto-cycle between them, then stop. Now, with your eyes still closed, push playback (Space) and you don't know which version you are listening to. Then push the down arrow key to cycle between A/B, and listen closely for the differences.

You will hear a difference, but even over twenty channels it is still subtle. So I understand someone could be sceptical that the preamps "do nothing" - individually, it often seems like that is the case. Some are more coloured (frequency response) than others, more roll-off etc - but many of the harmonics generated are SUPER subtle. Infact they might barely poke above the simulated noisefloor (hiss) of other analog modelled plugins.

I also find the preamps are audible in the soundtage and balance of instruments in the mix. Let alone effects on transiets. All subtle but meaningful, with the right preamp. Or no preamp if that sounds better.

TimP has by far the best compressors in the box, BY FAR.
Here's his TLA vs the hardware comp. If you can't tell this is VERY CLOSE, CLOSER THAN ANY ALGO COMP, you may need new ears.

The preamps are great, you need to put them on every channel, YOU BURN THEM IN, FREEZE, BOUNCE IN PLACE, understand? If you use a real Neve board and recorx trCks, the Neve pres WILL BE BURNED IN TO EVERY TRACK. Same thing.
Watch Pajl Third videos comparing TimP comps to access analog hardwaee comps, they are far and away better than algo comps.
TimP 1102 Neve eq sounds awesome, just unbelievable.

Do they do Tube?. Oh my, I have a Signal to noise 125 megabyte Fube comp preamp file, it is Tube sound in a massive way. I match it with say, the Waves Puigchild or the Pulsar MU, just awesome.

It is amazing how much phone info gets spread around, luke people don't even know how to simlly bounce a track in place and think they need to run t0 Nebula plugs at once, just hilarious.
TimP Lbus, BEST SSL in the box. Hiz RA6, just unreal.
