The highest form of knowledge is empathy, for it requires us to suspend our egos and live in another's world. It requires profound, purpose‐larger‐than‐the‐self kind of understanding.

Since they seem to be so desperate for cash, bought the new chord sequencer and pattern mutator. Because why not?

It's nice using them as MIDI plugin in Logic. In combination with Dual Arp : Instant fun

The way PH intent it to be, isn't it? As a plugin? Am I using it right?
They offer it as Instrument, Effect and MIDI plugin. I very much appreciate it, since there is nothing quite like it in the MIDI plugin department, AND THEY KNOW IT

It's good but not very good like Scaler2 (for example).
The name of the scales is missing and how these chords are constructed is also missing. It's either for musicians that know their scales and chords, so this can be as a scratch pad for chord progression or for someone doesn't know and doesn't want to know about scales, instead just constructs a progression from the list with this simple guide of nearest chord and further away chord "musically".
For me, as a beginner/intermediate user/composer, it's not useful because I want a list of scales and their chords with variations (7th ... etc).
Scaler2 does give this information with the same option of constructing my cords progression and play it. You see, it's a relation of going back and forth from chords to scale to melody to scale.
They could make it an excellent tool that has two levels of info, shallow and not shallow!
The problem with music is when it becomes so predictable and repetitive! It kills the originality and thus becomes not memorable.
I like a lot this video and I watch it from time to time to remind me to not make cliché (that Reason's chord tool, kind of, is encouraging):

The thing about chord sequencer, is that it's easy. With every "easy" tool, mistakes and no-gos with chord progressions are bound to happen

True. And for that same reason I decided to stick with a linear DAW as I found that everything I was writing in pattern based DAWs ended up the same way.EnGee wrote: Sat Jul 02, 2022 8:00 am

I was never able to use any of these tools, in trance 2nd, 3rd, 5th, and octave intervals work best, so a progression always starts as an idea that creates a voicing puzzle that has to be solved using those intervals with different techniques (using step/skipwise motions, diff resolving techs etc.) luckily trance uses mainly basic triads (+seventh and sus chords) exclusively so the puzzles can be solved pretty easily ... fun stuffEnGee wrote: Sat Jul 02, 2022 8:00 am ...For me, as a beginner/intermediate user/composer, it's not useful because I want a list of scales and their chords with variations (7th ... etc)...
there is a good article about it on https://www.edmprod.com/tension/ from "Tension in chord progressions"
for ex. I've listened
in the morning and wanted to create some skipwise stuff that depends on octave jumps>
work in progress ofc
so still FLS(major>minor key remapping and transposing ...

There is no right and wrong on how to write your music. Choose whatever make you feel more comfortable. Tools for me are just a guide. Mostly I play everything I want and then recorded, but sometimes I use the pen tool to draw/edit. It doesn't matter how you do it, in the end what counts is the result.
You have a nice piece there, finish it! You can do it in Reason as well. For me FL Studio is alien I can't be productive with it, but many users are very productive with it. Reason for me is easier (although I use in the end the Linear arrangement, and my favourite is Studio One now, but I still use Live/Bitwig/Reason for initial ideas mostly, although I can continue the initial ideas and finish them if I want to!).

^^^ only FLS has a usable step recorder/chord audition(scrub in S1) tool in the known universe (and vs BWS/Reason has MIDI logger so able to do retrospective recording) so don't have to back and forth between the MIDI keyboard and the piano roll constantly

that's why ... ctrl+shift+m saves it in .mid and can be dropped to anywhere
BWS is the best, everything can be done in it except creating the music itself

Patiently waiting for proper ARM support, but I don't believe it to drop earlier than 2023.
Anyway... the new tools are dawesome. keep it up you guys

The reason behind is that they wanted to create a device which give you the ability to play outside of any scales just judging how it sounds instead of being limited by any theory...
Don´t know if that is really the right way though...

But it's not "outside any scales". It uses the Music Theory in a shallow way.

Ok, bad description from me... let´s say it allows you from inside the plugin to play chords which aren´t necessarily included in a single scale in opposite to Scales and Chords Player...EnGee wrote: Mon Jul 04, 2022 5:51 pm But it's not "outside any scales". Yes, it is useful especially if you use Reason as your main DAW. It integrates great with any instrument you choose.Trancit wrote: Tue Jul 05, 2022 1:52 pmOk, bad description from me... let´s say it allows you from inside the plugin to play chords which aren´t necessarily included in a single scale in opposite to Scales and Chords Player...EnGee wrote: Mon Jul 04, 2022 5:51 pm But it's not "outside any scales". Still for me, even in Reason, I prefer Scaler 2. It has much better musical information and Reason's device is kind of "silly" compared to Scaler. First, I hate the stupid names they put. Second, why they omitted the Roman numerical?! Lastly, why they didn't show the scale of the chords?! It is absolutely based on Scales! They didn't invent anything!
Look at their example, that it is easily replicated with Scaler but with much better info (this is just one page, another page tab has the circle of fifths ...etc. Also, it is easier to drag and drop the chords into the sequencer to any instruments/midi track (including its own track).
The prices are almost the same (even now with both has some discount).
