Hi all,

I´ve already found sources for CC0 / public domain samples of acoustic instruments (+ voice), but since what I´m doing with them is conditional I´m looking for more material to choose from.

Sites I know are
- Versilian Studio https://vis.versilstudios.com/
- freesound.org
- signaturesound.org https://www.signaturesound.org/

I´m happy for every good oneshot sample. I didn´t find a single good guitar sample yet for example. Or a good piano, rhodes or wurlitzer - and every flute is different, so the search goes on.

I don´t need multisamples (a multisample program is the result of what I´m doing). But compliance is very important so I have to be sure (...) that the uploader is the owner of the copyrights.

Thank you very much for your tips!

That might not be quite what you want but you can always pay musicians on gig sites like Fiverr to play what you want, that can include making such samples. This way the copyright would be clearly yours.

Don't know if these are any good for you, but happy for you to do what whatever you want with them if so. It's kontakt instruments of two of my acoustics; the battered old encore (which I much prefer actually), and an epiphone. All the .wavs are in there.

That´s a good idea. I have already thought about doing that with a female singer. But I didn´t know fiverr yet. I´ll note it and probably do it somewhen. Thanks!

Thank you - ahm - donkey tugger :)

The examples are played live, right?

I´m really glad that I finally have some acoustic guitar samples without much hassle. I´m still testing what I can do with the samples so I don´t really want to invest too much time and effort for now.

The main problem for me are the resonances that acoustic instruments generate as well as the mostly "muffeled" sound / not enough high frequencys. But I think I´ll find my ways and the results are promising so far.

The result is a kind of waveform by the way. I generate it with granular synthesis. And transients are also interesting, but that should better be multisamples.

Nah, those are the actual patches, but played on the YRG plastic midi-guitar.

Karoryfer's freebies are now CC0.

Another option is DSK Music. They have a bunch of freebies and a $25 collection with even more stuff. Not explicitly CC0 but I spoke to the developer and he’s fine with them being used to make loops, sample packs and what not (that’s what I use them for).

Edit: I just saw that you want them to make one shot based virtual instruments. You may want to check with them for that, I don’t think he’ll have a problem with it.

Freepats seem to be CC0 https://freepats.zenvoid.org/

Many of the instruments at https://github.com/sfzinstruments are CC0. In particular, the Discord GM sampleset (https://github.com/sfzinstruments/Discord-SFZ-GM-Bank) is all intended to be CC0, and each instrument has license information in the sfz file. The Rhodes and acoustic guitar are CC0 for sure because I released them; the pianos are from Versilian or Freepats so don't bother with them (use the original sources instead; these are shortened/looped to save space.)

Thank you all for your kind help, I think this list might also be interesting for some other people!

Thank you again! I´ll maybe contact if I find a sound that is interesting for me!

Hi, we at Surge Synth Team are starting to build a library with CC0 samples for the coming ShortcircuitXT sampler form Surge Synth Team. It is just starting, but maybe it's now that the thing is pretty small that we need some friendly hands to push it harder, or just a CCO statement in your samples.
I'd like to make the claim extensive to everyone wishing to share their samples or patches.
Shortcircuit is still in pre-beta and it's not close to release, it's a volunteer job and we have few developers, but the thing is pretty close to work and it's massive.
Anyone joining the project or wishing to know about its status is invited to join us at Discord.
