Why do people here hate on cherry audio?

It's the other way around on my computer, all the Cherry Audio synths are very CPU-friendly. I don't own the Model 84, the Model 72 and all the Arturia synths are 2-3 times as CPU hungry though

And what sort of computer are you on?
I think SEM V holds up OK, except for its lack of Unison. Ditto for 2600 V, especially when compared to C2600. I bought the collection earlier in the year but I've not actually spent much time with it. However, plenty of people seem to complain that they use way too much of your system resources and that they can be slow to load, etc., hence my question.Arashi wrote: Mon Jul 04, 2022 3:30 amI think it's obvious how much they've improved when you compare their recent releases with the older ones. Minimoog V is (quite frankly) really bad. Modular V is not great. SEM V and 2600 V seem kinda okay…until you compare them with bx_oberhausen and Korg's ARP Odyssey plugin.

Seems to depend on the patch. Maybe the effects are expensive? I can confirm Jun-6 V and Model 84 both use less CPU than DCO-106, which is a kick in the pants considering they also sound way, way better.BONES wrote: Mon Jul 04, 2022 3:24 am Interesting that you say that because last night I had DCO-106, Model 84 and Arturia's Jun-V loaded into Studio One and DCO-106 was more CPU-intensive than the other two. There wasn't much in it but I was surprised that DCO-106 was such a CPU hog.

Judging from your signature a much more powerful one. I use the same OS though, perhaps it's your computer you should have a look at?

Of the latest V Collection updates/additions, I like the new Prophet VS best.
I also like the Mini V3 a lot. I'm sure there is room for improvement in a future V4, but knob for knob, it already does what a real Minimoog does.

That would explain some of it, I really don't use the onboard effects on neither the Cherry Audio nor most other synths thoughArashi wrote: Mon Jul 04, 2022 3:40 am

I'm using a late 2015 iMac (4 GHz quad-core i7, 32 GB RAM). No CPU issues with any Arturia plugins. The most CPU-intensive one is Pigments, depending on which filter is used (some are pretty expensive) and the overall complexity of the patch. Even then it's well within what my machine can handle. Loading times are quick enough that I don't really think about it.BONES wrote: Mon Jul 04, 2022 3:36 am And what sort of computer are you on?

Their stuff seems pretty efficient to me. They also seem to actively improve performance and loading times across all their plugins with each V Collection update.

Ryzen? Intel? I put all that info in my signature because it's helpful in discussions like this. Being vague and unhelpful is just you being a dickhead. Because I'm pretty sure that it's my computer running the Arturia and Softube plugins more efficiently, rather than it running the Cherry ones less so.YnJ wrote: Mon Jul 04, 2022 3:43 amJudging from your signature a much more powerful one. You're the king of dickheads around here, while not completely ignorant you don't know half as much as you think you do, you're always 100% sure you're right though, you always look for something to pick on, and you have the general manners of a boy cow's dingle dangle. Why should I listen to anything you have to say?BONES wrote: Mon Jul 04, 2022 4:01 am Ryzen? Intel? I put all that info in my signature because it's helpful in discussions like this. a friend of mine got a 106 back in the mid-80s. He had been a trained accordion player, but wanted something a little more...cool...to play, and he chose the 106 because of the rich sound. He told me once he used to use his accordion for reference to re-tune the instrument when it would drift too far.YnJ wrote: Mon Jul 04, 2022 3:04 am ... My Juno 106 used to randomly and quite suddenly go out of tune, a mark of authenticity I haven't seen even the more expensive emulations capture properly

When I'm playing/tweaking it? Yes.
That aside, if you have a real Minimoog in front of you and you set the Mini V3 and the real Minimoog the same, they will make the same sounds.

But accordions are typically tuned to A=442!blatanville wrote: Mon Jul 04, 2022 4:07 am a friend of mine got a 106 back in the mid-80s. And Martin McCarrick made accordions about the coolest instrument around in the mid to late '80s.

I had an old Kawai monophonic synth that was even worse, sounded quite good actually when in tune, single analogue oscillator. The synth driftet off so much that I had to turn the tuning knob all the way back and change key sometimes

Man, we were in high school...you weren't going to convince high schoolers that accordions were cool!jamcat wrote: Mon Jul 04, 2022 4:14 am And Martin McCarrick made accordions about the coolest instrument around in the mid to late '80s.

I know when I'm right because I go to the trouble to find out. When I don't know, I ask a question but most of the morons around here don't seem to understand the difference.
In this case, maybe you'd find a way to make some of your plugins work more efficiently? Or, Dog forbid, you might help someone else work out how to make theirs work better. Or is that too much to hope for?Why should I listen to anything you have to say?
I don't recall him using one when he was in Siouxsie & the Banshees or, if he did, I didn't notice it in any of the recordings he was involved in.jamcat wrote: Mon Jul 04, 2022 4:14 amAnd Martin McCarrick made accordions about the coolest instrument around in the mid to late '80s.
