If 'real' Zero Latency is needed then Look - Ahead wont work; also catching ISP's, so also no True Peak - Limiting possible. Depends I would say, as Loudmax's 1.25ms (+ 6 Samples ISP) Latency is pretty low actually, most wont recognize Anything up to 10ms. But it is also depending on the whole Setup, maybe other Plugins involved etc. - I believe with all the good Suggestions something Adequate should be found here.

I just tried it --- it does seem to work (and very well) with Gig Performer - it adds 55 samples of latency and does not seem to be noticeable.Scrubbing Monkeys wrote: Tue Jun 28, 2022 3:15 pm It wouldnt work in a live situation because it will introduce latency in order to look ahead

Yes, I've linked it earlier in the thread. There is also a 20% summer discount going on at Voxengo, so, a fortiori, OP might want to look into that.Ploki wrote: Wed Jun 29, 2022 11:17 pm voxengo ebuslim, 23 samples latency.
i dont think i found anything else as fast.
not sure if you can still buy them

That's great. 55 samples isn't bad at all. I assume that it can only look ahead 55 samples. I have used it and it works just fine for post. Glad it works for you live.deskew wrote: Wed Jun 29, 2022 12:54 pmI just tried it --- it does seem to work (and very well) with Gig Performer - it adds 55 samples of latency and does not seem to be noticeable.Scrubbing Monkeys wrote: Tue Jun 28, 2022 3:15 pm It wouldnt work in a live situation because it will introduce latency in order to look ahead

Can't go wrong with this one. Simple, efficient, and maintained by the developer.El°HYM wrote: Mon Jun 27, 2022 7:08 pm Loudmax could work for this task.

A similar (and strong) option is fircomp, v1 is free: https://jonvaudio.com/fircomp/

PSP Twin-L has been < $30 on sale (I paid $17.80 for it from JRRShop). Zero latency. Can probably find it for sale somewhere "used" or wait for another sale.

Pretty much any limiter will get the job done with almost no CPU hit, as long as it's not one of those ridiculous analogue modelled con-jobs. Personally, I'd use the Kilohearts one because it's simple and it works. I think all that stuff is free from Kilohearts now, too.

Dumb question: does the latency delay hearing the sounds or is just there a delay in when the limiter kicks in (if so, I suppose it could miss the transients when it is really needed)?

I have an unused Ilok code for sale, it's a decent plugin, I already had it.vitocorleone123 wrote: Mon Jul 04, 2022 5:20 pm PSP Twin-L has been < $30 on sale (I paid $17.80 for it from JRRShop). Zero latency. Can probably find it for sale somewhere "used" or wait for another sale.
I'd recommend the TDR Limiter 6 GE.

Plugin latency reported to the DAW/host is what the PDC (plugin delay compensation) is adjusting for to keep everything in time. So the answer to your question is, yes, it's the delay the plugins adds to hearing the sound.jeffn1 wrote: Tue Jul 05, 2022 6:15 pm Dumb question: does the latency delay hearing the sounds or is just there a delay in when the limiter kicks in (if so, I suppose it could miss the transients when it is really needed)?
