Just completed another mix and partial rewrite of a new tune.
You can hear it here:

The Ghost In The Radio
There was a documented tale about radio transmissions that had been sent 20+ years ago that were just received on thousands of confused listeners radios.
All the drums, radio signals and more tracks were freshly sampled for this experiment in radio time travel.
(No bunnies were hurt by this production....)

Apologies for more on my PC issues, but it's the brain of my 'studio'. Have at least had some good news with the iLok stuff. I used the option to try and claim back activations for the dead Windows install and already got some back from Softube, Neural DSP and Xils Lab. The biggest one I need other than those is UVI as I've got a lot of stuff with them via iLok though I have 2 spare activations if needed.
Edit: UVI and Soundtoys came through so it's all shaping up nicely.
Windows 11 seems to handle the extended colour range and font resizing on my 10 bit 4K monitor properly so everything looks much nicer. Ableton looks great.

Best of all, no idea what was up with my last Windows 10 install, but after clearing all that shit off I can now use my MIDI module with Reaper which means it can go back to being my main DAW. Glad because though I can get a lot of stuff done in Bitwig I end up having to create loads more tracks to do the same routing I can do in Reaper on one track.

Maybe a lemonade from lemons thing, but now I’m over the hump of reinstalling plugins and DAWs and had my iLok activations refreshed the forced Windows 11 upgrade seems very positive. Things that didn’t work properly before are working, lists of old devices are mercifully gone and everything working more snappily.
Got the cheapo Launchpad mini and it works very nicely with the Performer sequencer. The only slight niggle is there’s a lot of scrolling to set note values as you only see 8 semitones per ‘page’, but it’s fantastic for gate entry up to 64 steps.

Just curious what you use. I have less than no clue about electronics but the piezo mics I put in a few stomp boxes sound like crap. I wouldn't know what to look for in a piezo.whyterabbyt wrote: ↑Wed Jun 29, 2022 10:26 am Built fourteen piezo mics; two with 1/4" jacks for the field recorder, the other dozen with 3.5mm sockets, mostly for permanent mounting on things like kalimbas, and for spring/noise boxes and suchlike.

Downloaded a sample instrument, it was 70Gigs.
After 12-15 hours of downloading, it ended up corrupt, so had to start all over....
Also recorded a new tune, not yet mixed.....

Ouch! Very thankful right now with all my issues I've got 1Gb/s broadband. That's one headache I haven't had.PatchAdamz wrote: ↑Thu Jul 07, 2022 8:57 am Downloaded a sample instrument, it was 70Gigs.

Just the bog-standard cheapo disc elements. Ive got a few that are about 3.5cm? diameter, so built a couple with them, but most of the ones Ive just made are the smallest (1.5cm?) ones, and a couple of an in-between size. The larger they are, the better the frequency response, I believe.morelia wrote: ↑Thu Jul 07, 2022 6:32 amJust curious what you use. I dip them in liquid rubber to reduce the tinny-ness a wee bit, but the main thing wrt bass response is that they're very high impedance, and are basically HPF'd on regular inputs, so, in the absence of an appropriate preamp, I run them into a Hi-Z input. (though Ive also got two Mikrophonie Eurorack modules)
some info on the impedance thing here:
