SEM has an arpeggiator and a 32-step sequencer which OB-E doesn't have.

By the way, always sweet to see how the audio software companies' websites can handle the "enormous" stress of new releases. I'm sure there'll be, like... a hundred requests or so at the same time. :P

Ahhh...
You guys should put that up somewhere on the website, maybe an OB-E vs SEM comparison.

Well that is enough to convince me to buy it (as an Oberheim unapologetic fanboy)

I presumed the low intro price was to compete with PA's bx_oberhausen (?)
Looks good ... downloading the demo now.

MillerSam wrote: Thu Jul 07, 2022 12:57 pm For many users the OB-E is not super affordable. So this is a little door opener to the Gforce Software Oberheim sound. Let's say it's an appetizer. Don't forget, you can use OB-E also as SEM ;)
Yes, but I'm specifically talking about people who already own OB-E. There's a £10 discount for OB-E owners. Why isn't it just free?
It's probably because, surprise surprise, software development, like any kind of work, costs money. They need to write new code to make it a standalone plugin, and they need to do a new GUI.

If it's like Tom says and you can use the OB-E as a SEM, then I don't know why you need to buy the SEM.
Here’s why:
While staying true to the original SEM, we also added a number of enhancements to make the GForce Oberheim SEM even more useful for modern music production. Alongside a new VCO3, which doubles as an LFO with audio rate for additional modulation and FM possibilities
As far as I can see (I don't own OB-E), the OB-E has a third VCO as well.
Ah, my bad. To be honest, I bought OB-E during a super busy time and put it on the back burner. I thought I remembered it didn’t have the 3rd oscillator. Must dig in!

The website says you can import or export presets between the SEM and the OB-E, what does it do with the presets from the SEM that uses the 32 steps that are exported to the OB-E?
thanks

It just takes the SEM front and rear panel settings. So it's just the core sound-creating module that gets imported. The import into OB-E happens via each SEM's individual SEM Load button on the back panel.

Got ya. Understood..

It's been like that since tuesday when they released 2.1 of OB-E

Vortifex wrote: Thu Jul 07, 2022 4:01 pm I'm finding it quite frustrating to alter parameters in very small increments. I can't set the VCO frequency to 0.01 or 0.02, for example. There doesn't seem to be a keyboard modifier to slow the adjustments.
For VCOs grab the centre of the knob for fine adjustment. For other controls hold the shift key. Although shift also works on the outer ring of the VCOs.

Ok. didn't know that :)
I ended up buying it from JRR Shop today and i have a pending Payment for the one i added in the Gforce Shop Because of Slow downs and Error while ordering it.

So now i am fighting My Account page trying to register my Sem From JRR Shop (The one on Gforce didn't even open Paypal so I guess it will just stay as Pending forever).

Hope they will fix it soon. Keeps Getting Gateway Timeout Because the Server takes to long to respond :(

Gforce is a nice company, so as an OB-E owner, I might get this SEM offer. But I'm not sure, because I try not to collect synths that overlap....
