Yeah, it generally works for most mseg type tasks with a bit of practice

by the way, I want to say that this would be more useful if we have the opportunity to fill the line without releasing the mouse click

sorry if the answer is already common knowledge: does Rapid have plans to add something like a harmonic editor? I read from an official comment that Rapid doesn't plan to add wavetable editor, and I definitely understand the reasoning behind this choice. But does this also mean that there would be no harmonic editor either for single cycle waveshapes?

EDIT:

realize I can use sends to stack different waveshapes across multiple layers, effectively giving me 3 (per layer) x 8 (layer) of oscillators to stack. Didn't realize this during the demo, but I finally purchased Rapid and found out layers can send audio output to other layers.

If you're doing a VST3 format update for 1.9, any chance you would consider adding CLAP format to your development pipeline?

Polyphonic modulation sounds pretty tasty for Rapid.

Am aware of CLAP, LV2, ARA extensions, MPE and MIDI 2.

They are (still) far too niche to be considered at the moment. At least all major DAWs should support them in a basic way, or offer at least alternative features or extensions based on current formats. Otherwise this would lead to chaos. Preset, support and feature-wise.

It's somewhat of a chicken / egg problem, but capacity wise DAW companies should be responsible to pioneer the adaption of new formats. Not plugin developers. I'm sure if CLAP will prove "good enough" it will be adapted by major vendors. Or not. Otherwise, "something else" will probably take its place in the next 10 years.

Give them time.. there has been a bug where you can't turn off the tooltips for a long long time that has not even been fixed. Might get MSEG in a few years then CLAP in about 10 years if all goes well. Really not worth supporting a company with free updates for life that gives no updates but you can't then sell.

MPE considered too niche is all you need to know..

Post

What percentage of the marketplace owns an MPE capable device? Until you have that number you can't say if it's niche or not.

Those who do own MPE devices are quite vocal but are they quite numerous is the question.

Still plenty of VSTs that are not MPE from NI, Spectrasoncis, AAS, Suger Bytes, half the Arturia synths...even my faveroute VST, Dune 3...there are still probably more synths without proper MPE than with at the moment, if you want a big 'do it all' synth that plays well with MPE then Falcon and Phase Plant 2 do it well.

Fair enough but an obvious bug has not been fixed for a year or more.. anyway I'm not fussed as I uninstalled it ages ago.

If not being able to turn off tool tips made you uninstall this supurb synth then you are a tough crowd! I have Omnisphere, Falcon, Phase Plant etc but I still use Rapid a lot as it sounds so good and it’s very fast to make great layered pads.

For the tooltip bug you can do this to remove it for now. I got the tip directly from Parawave.

Go to the directory C:\ProgramData\Parawave\Rapid , or on Mac /Library/Parawave/Rapid/
There should be a file settings.xml. Open it in a text editor and add this tag to the existing properties.

<property name="tooltips" value="0"/>

I don't know why you would uninstall it, because the function doesn't cause any actual problems... i.e, for me at least the latest version simply has tooltip information disabled even if switched on or off. The main top display bar provides the details you need in any case.

Sure, the function doesn't work, but it doesn't actually impede any actual functions of the synth itself.

/\ .....Ah, I now remember I applied the line a few years back...which fixed this... <property name="tooltips" value="0"/>

If you missed out on the new skins...

Just for the resynthesis function alone, it’s worth keeping it. It’s an instant drone & pad maker.

OK guys I will give it another go.. the reverb and chorus x do sound great.. not being able to modulate reverb size isn't great though.. really wanted an extra gain control for samples too, they are often way too quiet when balancing with oscillators. Also FM doesn't go extreme enough, sounds pretty tame..
