I got my Soma Labs Rumble of Ancient Times and I think it's superb!

I'm not trying to sell anyone on it, just trying to share my enthusiasm.

I always wanted a Lyra-8 but have never been able to justify it. After spending a couple days working through the manual and experimenting, I can say I love this thing! There is so much depth and variety (at least for me being kinda of new to hardware synths). I really respect how well designed it is for sound alchemy. Plus it seems work be very compatible fitting in with my 0-Coast through the audio input port.

The only issue for me is that the erase button doesn't seem to work in erasing the sequence. I'm having to turn it off and on.

I have a Lyra-8, and there's one thing you can say about Soma Labs Instruments is that you'll never quite get the same sound twice. I wouldn't sell it for anything, it a source of much inspiration.

they take a while from announcement to being available, and i imagine the chip shortage isn't helping

Sooner or later I will pick up something from SOMA. Their stuff is so unique and interesting,
so much so, that I do fear the scope of using the stuff (for me) would be overly narrow. For
instance, I have a few great drone machines that I really like, the problem is, that I rarely
am able to find a use for any great drones. I was in the pre-order pool for the cosmos, but
cancelled it when it was released as I'd had too much time to think about whether I would
actually use it a lot or not.

for me, it's something id not only enjoy using as a musical tool, but also, for listening sessions, just play some cds through it and let it mash it up.
i enjoy doing similar sometimes with morphagene, but cosmos is another level up from that imo.

but yes, you should buy something from them, if only to support the mad scientist
the suoerbooth terra video and interview, he seems like such a cool guy, and as you say, it's all very unique stuff. even the lyra8 delay, can get very out there!!
there's also the ether i keep meaning to grab, again as much for just plugging headphones in on the bus instead of music

Heh, I'm trying to stop buying stuff just because it might be fun to play with or listen to.

The Cosmos is definitely not the most diverse or wide-ranging looping device around, but it's pretty amazing in spite of and/or because of that.

Playing with LIRA-8 software really made me desire the real thing. I'm trying to figure out how to justify it. I could get lost in the software for many hours.
