To be honest, I was more worried about the bloody squeaks, scrapes and other incidental noises from the bloody bowing / vibrating old cello strings!![]()

But do not get me started on the production values of that album...I've had so many late night discussions over the decades!

Are you referring to the production quality and not the actual music?
I always thought the sound quality of Foxtrot was a backward step after Nursery Cryme.
None of my friends agree, but I always thought Foxtrot had an overtly "tinny" sound, lacking in bass.

Yeah, I agree about the sound quality...it's very listenable, but for me there was always 'something' missing in there...bit flat and, yes , slightly lacking in a little edge of low frequency 'oomph'?seismic1 wrote: Wed Jun 29, 2022 10:18 pmIt's late nowChameleonMusic wrote: Wed Jun 29, 2022 8:51 pmTrue!seismic1 wrote: Wed Jun 29, 2022 8:02 pmThere's nothing wrong with a well-placed squeakChameleonMusic wrote: Tue Jun 28, 2022 11:27 pm

The other point of heated discussion was always the overly produced nature of it all in terms of excessive sound FX / silly voice moments etc etc. Maybe took the perceived 'pretentious' side of prog rock a tad too far? Still a great album though!

The emptiness inside - that's probably more likely than expected.
This section of the song approaches this subject in a frail, fragile
way. There are slow, sustained tones that fuse and merge - and
thus express a slowness, melancholy, vulnerability and tenderness.
Especially here on KVR, this little instrumental stands out: Well
done!

Hi Ian, thanks for having a listen and commenting!Bansaw wrote: Sun Jun 26, 2022 10:03 pm A very though-provoking composition.
I can definitely hear it underneath a U.K. TV drama. A dark period piece set in northern England in 1905, something like that.
It was certainly meant to be 'thought-provoking', so I'm pleased that you've raised that!

Very nice!
I love the detail and nuances. That's what makes music music.
You performed the cello with a real instrument on this track?
Where did the choir come from?

Interestingly, everyone has a slightly different viewpoint on this one, but your words do line-up quite closely with my own viewpoint in terms of the intended emotional content!

Hi Frantz,
Good to see that you're still on KVR...it's been a while for me since I last posted!
Thanks, as always, for checking out the track and leaving feedback...
I intended this one to be just a little bit emotionally ambiguous if at all possible and your words hint at some sort of success in that area.

Cello - 4 live performances (not me playing though - that wouldn't go well)!
Voices are live recordings (all ebbing and flowing on the same note at different octaves) with samples in the background to add a little touch of depth.
