Best NEW free synth for creating moving pads and ambient music?

I've been away for quite awhile (health issues), but trying to get back into music production, and wondering if there was some new, amazing freeware soft synth that excels at making moving pads and, ambient based tracks (stuck in bed with only a QWERTY keyboard - but MIDI keys may be available too).
Sorry for the sad song, but looking to see if some exciting new freeware pad synth has appeared in the last 2-3 years. Thanks!

WOW! That Vital is sure impressive! Morphing wavetables with such easy controls and attractive GUI (makes a difference to me) - this looks and sounds like a treat!
Thank you [nx] and El-HYM for this outstanding find!
And thank you K2006 for your suggestions and links - I'll check them out once I cool down from my excitement over Vital.

Vital is great even if would cost 100$+
And it makes competition even harder for other companies. I would say that it's a game changer for a free synth (even if I use expensive Diva and Serum more).

Not exactly #free, yet a very good Tip as its full functional with no restrictions for 90 Days to try.thecontrolcentre wrote: Tue Jul 12, 2022 6:43 pm Dawesome NOVUM

Another one to mention, even its not a Synth but a creative Effect would be Supermassive by Valhalla:

Hello, depending upon how ambient you want your music to be, check out Oi-Grandad on Github - a four Osc, granular synth. Add in to the mix ToneCarver's Boids (search here on KVR) and Valhalla Supermassive (mentioned above) for some very creative free tools (of course, these last two aren't new).
If you decide to give Dawesome's Novum a 90 day free trial, also try out his Kult and Abyss instruments too (again free for 90 days). On the Tracktion site there is also Wavesequencer's Hyperion, if you fancy spending some time building you own sound generation monster.

Check out Surge. Probably the most versatile for pads, with a whole shitload of synthesis methods, complexity and FX. Initially I quite liked Vital and was thinking about upgrading to the commercial version, but quickly found it a bit one-dimensional. Wavetables tend to be a bit love-it-or-loathe-it, and unfortunately I just can't get to like the brittle thin wavetable character (in any synth). I really do like the FX in Vital, and the modulation options are very good...I'm not going to slag it off as it's great for free. It's capable of complex pads but I still think Surge makes a greater range of sound that's not always obviously thin and digital. TBH use both. For free, they're superb.

Nearly forgot...if you're doing ambient stuff, then some great fx for free that are almost made for ambient.
Valhalla Massive - a huge (and superb quality reverb) that will do immense delays too. I'd happily pay for it...it's better than most paid reverbs, seriously. Same quality as Eventide Black Hole, I kid you not.
Deelay- similar kind of delay to Valhalla delay (has diffusion for reverby delays) and good reverse options.
Green Oak have 2 freebies, a chorus and delay. Probably not so much the chorus for ambient, but the delay is very capable.
All of those FX are perfect for ambient & free.

Update. I just discovered the team who developed Surge after it was made open-source are now working on ShortCircuit, the old sampler. Definitely one to watch. There's a thread about Surge in Instruments forum - check it out. Samplers can be very useful for ambient IMO.
