Freshly released, this could be a good candidate for an upcoming OSC

Oh yeah, it looks great! OK, it's mono, but the "useful random" button overrides that!Tj Shredder wrote: Tue Jun 21, 2022 8:14 pm Freshly released, this could be a good candidate for an upcoming OSC

Yeah, make a one instance mono track and just push the random button with each note… (Gosh I am lazy…; - )

I'd be down for this. Working from a monosynth only seems like a fun challenge to me.

Haha.
I'm always here, this feels like home, coming back to roots and surrounded by nice musicians and friends always supportive.

I'm hoping to recover soon so I can participate in this month and make something strange! Synth1 may actually be the first VST instrument I really used alongside Oatmeal and an old VST called UnoFM. I believe I had FL Studio 7 at the time, it was a really cool upgrade over the previous music program I relied on, which was just an 8-channel mono MIDI editor using the stock Microsoft MIDI sound. No FX, VST, nothing, but I used it for years...

I suggest the good old wavesim PPG simulator as a candidate for OSC.

The actual release comes in 64 bit and provides a scalable gui.

+1, that would be an interesting one.Chris-S wrote: Sun Jul 10, 2022 3:16 pm I suggest the good old wavesim PPG simulator as a candidate for OSC.
Pity the resizable GUI is still hardly readable. To help with all that, for anyone having trouble reading a bedienungsanleitung, a manual in English for the original can be found here:

Hey guys. Interesting to note that the rule forbidding modulation fx is still being discussed.
Pardon me if my memory is flawed ... it's been a long time, but I put this rule into place, as mentioned, as a means of preserving the sound and character of the chosen synth.
Phasers, Flangers, choruses etc are created by modulated delays being fed back alongside the unaffected signal, creating a richness which certainly enhances, not a bad thing really, but is it true to the capabilities/character of the synth?
Modulating a delay period results in pitch changing. I felt when I imposed this rule, that although this might seem trivial, to allow same would open a can of worms which could never again be closed, and if 'abused', would detract from the whole challenge.
However, and I'm not sure regarding the wisdom of sharing, but ... for the sake of education
.... you can create such effects in almost any synth by copying an instance of a synth, and copying its notes, then adjusting the vibrato on one (or more) instances by a tiny amount, setting the rate appropriately, and mixing alongside the unaffected sequence.
As this is created exclusively by the synth, there should be no objection. In fact, it is quite difficult to get 'right' so anyone pulling this off might actually be applauded for putting in the time and effort

... of course, the same effects can be created within a single instance if the synth allows for each osc to have it's pitch modulated independently

This rule still applies) I find it quite useful, as we hear in the tracks what the synthesizer itself can. This is my favorite moment when you studied synth for a month and then you hear something incredible from someone - how did you do it with him?!?!)tattiemannie wrote: Sun Jul 17, 2022 11:57 pm Hey guys. Using multiple instances to create modulation effects has been discussed recently, but it seem like these tricks are used infrequently and by few. Layers for percussive and complex sounds - yes.
Richard and BJ sometimes dig out such strange synths for us (like OPN/ADL), which few people have heard of, but basically most modern synthesizers have several FX on board so that this issue does not arise acutely) After all, the limitations of the synthesizer are part of its capabilities, and working within these limits (and overcoming them in legitimate ways

just out of curiosity, how do/did you feel about (non audio rate) modulation of something like an external filter? this seems to be where most of the current discussion and confusion is focused, due to multiple interpretations of "modulation". what was your intention there?tattiemannie wrote: Sun Jul 17, 2022 11:57 pm Hey guys.
